Day 1 - Sunday 31 March 2019

Melbourne - Dubai - Barcelona

Welcome to Sisterhood Womens Travel.  Meet your tour hostess and fellow travellers at the Melbourne Airport for your flight to Barcelona via Hong Kong.  Relax, sit back and enjoy the inflight entertainment of our airlines as we head towards our next adventure.

Day 2 - Monday 1 April 2019

Welcome to Spain! (D)

Welcome to Spain!  Upon our arrival we'll be met and trransferred to our hotel for check in and a chance to settle in before dinner at a local restaurant.

Day 3 - Tuesday 2 April 2019

Spanish Cooking Class & City Tour (B,L)

This morning a great introduction to Spanish Cuisine.  We'll enjoy a cookery class beginning with a market visit and then preparation of our lunch. This will be a great relaxed way for our group to get to know each other in a relaxed entertaining environment.  This afternoon we'll take a half day guided sights tour of Barcelona including La Sagrada Familia, Casa Milo And Casa Batllo.  We'll visit Unesco-listed Park Güell where Artist Gaudí turned his hand to landscape gardening. It's a strange, enchanting place where his passion for natural forms really took flight and the artificial almost seems more natural than the natural.   Tonight dinner at leisure.

Day 4 - Wednesday 3 April 2019

Vineyard and Free Time (B)

This morning we'll enjoy an excursion to Vilafranca Del Penedès to visit Artcava Vineyard. Here we'll take part in learning how to bottle Cava, and create our own personal bottle to take away. After returning to Barcelona the remainder of our day is free to explore at leisure.  Dinner at leisure.

Day 5 - Thursday 4 April 2019

Barcelona - Zaragoza - San Sesbatian (B)

Today we'll take the train to ZaragozaTransfer to Barcelona station for a train to Zaragoza. Zaragoza is the capital and largest city of Aragon in Spain, and one of Spain's five largest cities, yet arguably the least known outside of Spain. Founded on the river Ebro in times of the Roman Empire, Zaragoza now holds a large cultural and architectural heritage attesting to 2 000 years of affluence and importance. Famous 18th Century painter Francisco de Goya certainly left his mark on this town including the ceiling of Our Lady of the Pillar Basilica which we will visit before taking the train to San Sebastian.   Upon arrival we'll transfer to our hotel and enjoy dinner at leisure tonight.

Day 6 - Friday 5 April 2019

Free Day in San Sebastian (B)

While many visitors come for the beaches, arts celebrations and fiestas, San Sebastian-Donostia is serious about its food and drink. The Old Quarter’s narrow, winding streets are full of bars and restaurants, and in the modern city, sidewalk cafes are all around. The city specialises in seafood. Today is a day at leisure to soak up your surrounds. 

There is an optional tour to Bilbao a neighbouring town famous for it's art.  Included is entry into the famous Guggenheim Museum and the Bilbao Fine Arts Museum.  Bilbao is surrounded by rolling green hills, with breathtaking coastline an easy jaunt from town. Parks and plazas dot the city centre, including the Parque de Doña Casilda de Iturrizar with its tree-lined paths and ornamental pond, while riverside promenades give fine views of the cityscape.

Day 7 - Saturday 6 April 2019

San Sebastian - Madrid (B)

This morning we'll transfer to Madrid by train.  This trip will take about 7 hours so sit back, relax and enjoy the scenery.  Upon arrival into Madrid we'll have time to settle in before dinner at leisure.  No city on earth is more alive than Madrid, a beguiling place whose sheer energy carries a simple message: this city really knows how to live!

Day 8 - Sunday 7 April 2019

Madrid (B,D)

Today we'll enjoy a Madrid city sightseeing tour getting to know the city before an afternoon at leisure.  We'll view the main sights of the city, visit the Thyssen-Bornemisz Museum and take a walk through Retiro Park. The Thyssen Museum is one of the most extraordinary private collections of predominantly European art in the world. Where the Prado or Reina Sofía enable you to study the body of work of a particular artist in depth, the Thyssen is the place to immerse yourself in a breathtaking breadth of artistic styles. Most of the big names are here, sometimes with just a single painting, but the Thyssen’s gift to Madrid and the art-loving public is to have them all under one roof.  Tonight we'll enjoy a Flamenco dinner & show.

Day 9 - Monday 8 April 2019

Madrid - Toledo Day Tour (B)

Today we'll enjoy a half day trip to the UNESCO world heritage site of Toledo, a town just outside of Madrid.  Toledo was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1986 for its extensive monumental and cultural heritage.  We'll transfer back to Madrid and travel to Lisbon on the overnight train with berths in a 4 bed cabin.

Day 10 - Tuesday 9 April 2019

Lisbon (B,D)

On arrival into Lisbon we'll have breakfast at a local cafe before enjoying a half day tour of Lisbon including entry into the Queluz Palace and the Belem Tower.  Lisbon is a city armed with gothic grit and glamour.  This afternoon we'll check into our hotel to freshen up before dinner with a Fado show in the evening. Fado is a traditional Portuguese melancholy form of song.

Day 11 - Wednesday 10 April 2019

Lisbon - Cascais-Sintra National Park (B)

Today a full day excursion to Cascais-Sintra National Park. We'll visit Cascais and walk along the promenade with views of the town, Cabo de Roca - the most Westerly point of mainland Europe, and finally visit Pena Palace and Gardens for a guided tour.  Dinner at leisure tonight back in Lisbon.

Day 12 - Thursday 11 April 2019

Lisbon - Castro Verde - Silves - Faro (B)

Today we depart Lisbon and travel to Faro a town with a strong byzantine presence.  Along the way we'll stop in Castro Verdes, a 17th Century town, then Silves, to explore Silves Castle, one of the best-preserved examples of Moorish Castles in Portugal.  Arriving into Faro with dinner at leisure tonight.

Day 13 - Friday 12 April 2019

Faro - Seville (B)

Today we'll explore the Ria Formosa National Park, with a boat trip to explore the waterways and a guided nature walk. Like Porto's Parque Nacional da Peneda-Gerês, the Parque Natural da Ria Formosa is a Portuguese national treasure created for the preservation of the the Algarve's unique marshland and its flora and fauna. It encompasses a large lagoon area hugging almost 60 km of coastline.  Afterwards we'll continue on to Seville with dinner at leisure.

Day 14 - Saturday 13 April 2019

Seville (B)

Seville disarms and seduces you. Its historic centre, lorded over by the colossal Gothic Seville cathedral, is an intoxicating mix of resplendent Mudéjar palaces, baroque churches and winding medieval lanes.  This morning we'll enjoy a city tour of Seville with views of the Metropole Parasol, the Golden Tower and entry into the Seville Cathedral.  An afternoon at leisure to explore.  Dinner at leisure tonight.

Day 15 - Sunday 14 April 2019

Seville (B,D)

A morning free to discover Seville at leisure.  Then this afternoon we'll enjoy a guided tour or Real Alcazar.  Located in the heart of Seville, the Real Alcazar is one of the oldest palaces still in use in the world. The palace has evolved through different stages over time, from the late 11th century to the present day. From its walls we can appreciate the influence of the cultures that have passed through the city.  This palace-fortress was commissioned by Abd Al Raman III, it is intricately formed of exquisite rooms decorated with plasterwork, tiling and coffered ceilings, which combine perfectly with the magnificent gardens and use of water to create an unforgettable impression.  Highlights of the palace include the Patio de las Doncellas courtyard, with its beautiful tiled plinths, and the Patio de las Muñecas courtyard, with its fascinating collection of capitals.  As this is our last day in Spain, tonight we'll enjoy a farewell dinner to celebrate great times spent with new friends.

Day 16 - Monday 15 April 2019

Seville - Barcelona - Hong Kong (B)

A morning transfer to begin our fight home via Barcelona and Hong Kong.  Sit back, relax and enjoy the inflight entertainment of our airlines as we head towards home.

Day 17 - Tuesday 16 April 2019

Hong Kong - Melbourne
