Itinerary
Day 1 - Sunday 12 April 2026
Melbourne - Wellington (D)

Sit back, relax and enjoy the in-flight entertainment and hospitality of our airline as we head towards Wellington.
Welcome to Wellington, New Zealand! On arrival at Wellington Airport, you will be transferred to our hotel.
Wellington is a capital city of natural beauty, heritage architecture, art and culture. Wedged between bush-clad hills and a splendid natural harbour, Wellington enjoys an incomparable setting of ever-changing moods. On a clear day, the harbour sparkles but the arrival of southern storms can bring amazingly dramatic seas and winds. A vibrant city with a buzzing art, music, theatre and restaurant scene, designer and boutique shopping, Wellington is also home to the New Zealand Parliament and the national museum, Te Papa.
This evening get together at a local restaurant on the waterfront for dinner and get to know your fellow travellers.
Overnight: James Cook Hotel Grand Chancellor (or similar)

Wellington (B, L, D)
This morning, transfer to Mirimar to visit Wētā Workshop. The Wētā Workshop crew has brought to life beloved characters and epic special effects for iconic blockbusters like The Lord of the Rings, The Hobbit, Avatar and Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. Step into Wētā Workshop Experiences and explore a world of creativity, physical effects and movie magic on a guided tour through their creative home base.
On your 90-minute guided tour, we will discover Wētā Workshop's humble beginnings and rich creative history working on iconic TV shows and movies, walk through their tour space for an intimate look behind-the-scenes and walk amongst props, prosthetics, costumes and swords and learn the stories behind them.
After the tour we'll travel back into the city to Karaka Café – enjoy a set-menu lunch with a Māori and Pacifica influence.
After lunch, our walking guide will meet us at the café. Positioned on the edge of a beautiful natural harbour, Wellington is a compact city that’s great for walking. As the capital city of NZ, there are unique public spaces to explore and interesting cultural venues. Tour the city on foot with a local and discover Wellington through their eyes.
We'll end our day at the Museum of New Zealand Te Papa Tongarewa. Step into one of Aotearoa New Zealand’s most powerful and moving exhibitions with a one-hour guided tour of Gallipoli: The Scale of Our War at Te Papa. This immersive experience offers us a unique opportunity to explore the Gallipoli campaign—what it was, why it happened, and why it holds such deep significance for New Zealanders today.
Through the eyes of real New Zealanders who were there, we’ll gain insight into the courage, sacrifice, and enduring legacy of those who served. Led by an experienced guide, this tour combines captivating storytelling with breathtaking art and sculpture, including the monumental, larger-than-life figures created by Wētā Workshop. Each stop on the tour reveals personal stories of soldiers, nurses, and whānau, bringing history to life in a way that is both educational and deeply emotional.
