Our itinerary follows the Galician coastline using the Portuguese Camino da Costa (Coastal Way) to Redondela, and from here the Coastal route converges with the Portuguese Camino Central (Central Way) and continues through to Santiago de Compostela. It takes in the beautiful towns and villages of Baiona, Pontevedra, Redondela (famous for the best oysters in Galicia) and Caldas de Rei (a spa town with thermal hot springs).

Camino Trail Walk Vigo - Arcade (B) 21km

Beyond the city limits, the Camino threads together a series of peaceful hillside villages, each offering sweeping views back over Vigo, its estuary, and the port below. Around halfway through today’s walk, the landscape softens as houses give way to forest, before the path leads into a steep descent toward Redondela.
From there, the route eases into a gentle stroll through shaded woodland, eventually bringing you to Arcade—a place that feels as though it has been quietly untouched by time. This charming riverside town remains tranquil and authentic, largely unaffected by tourism, offering a peaceful end to the day’s journey. The village of Arcade is famous for the best oysters in Galicia.

The path meanders through charming hamlets before reaching the historic centre of Pontevedra, with its pretty historic centre, 13th-century church of Santa Maria, and the famous Pilgrim Virgin’s Church (Santuario da Peregrina), which although appears round, is actually in the shape of a scallop shell.
