Recently I explored Malta and Sicily with a group of women from Sisterhood Women's Travel. Diverse backgrounds and shared experiences. We visited UNESCO sites, explored sea caves on small boats, swam in the Mediterranean, enjoyed local cuisine, and tried a cooking class.
Our adventure began in Malta, where we visited a range of UNESCO World Heritage Sites, soaking in the rich history and culture of this Mediterranean gem. From the bustling streets of St. Julian's to the charming town of Xaghra, our trip was off to a captivating start.
Our first stop in Malta led us to San Lawrenz, where we marvelled at the remarkable architecture and views from the cliff-top. A highlight of our trip was the historic Citadel, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, offering panoramic views of the surrounding landscape. We also delved into the ancient history of Mdina and experienced the grandeur of Valletta, the capital city.
A short ferry ride took us to the picturesque island of Gozo, known for its scenic beauty and fascinating history. Afternoons spent at the rooftop pool watching the sunset or relaxing were heavenly.
After our amazing time in Malta, we hopped over to Catania, Sicily, where an enchanting world of beauty and history unveiled itself. Town tours became our daily delight, leading us through picturesque towns and cities like Siracusa, Ragusa, and Caltagirone, where we soaked in the lavish Baroque architecture and centuries-old traditions of the region.
Our adventure pressed on with captivating visits to Agrigento, home to the breathtaking Valley of the Temples, and Marsala, famous for its luscious wines and sprawling salt plains. Sicily's treasures just kept coming!"
In our last few days, we immersed ourselves in the enchanting charm of the Taormina area, a perfect blend of shopping, visits to iconic ‘Godfather’ film sites, tranquil gardens, and a sun-soaked day at the pristine beach near Isola Bella.
Closing the chapter on our trip to Malta and Sicily. It's time to head back, leaving behind the memories and experiences. These islands have been fascinating, and the journey has come to its end. Until the next adventure!
