Notice

**Luggage Transfers during the walk**
Hotel luggage transfer from Bonassola to Monterosso and Monterosso to Portovenere  (1 x 20kg bag per person). On day 6 you will take your own lugage on the train from Gamogli to Bonassola and leave it at the accommodaiton before comencing the days walk.

Challenging Fitness Rating - A high level of fitness is required for these tours. You can expect to participate in challenging walks for longer periods often on uneven and steep terrain. Prepare to be active for most of each day. You must be capable of boarding and disembarking coaches, trains and boats unaided and at times handle your luggage. The walk is approximately 70km of relaxed walking on well-maintained trails with some steep sections and staris.  Our walk is designed to be enjoyed by most walkers with a reasonably good level of fitness.

PREPARATION FOR THE WALK - We recommend regular walking in advance of your trip, including practice on hills and stairs, to build strength and endurance. Preparing your legs for several consecutive days of walking will help ensure you stay comfortable and fully enjoy the experience.  We also offer our monthly SWT walks  (Melbourne Based).   Our monthly walks encourage you to improve your fitness, get to know your fellow walkers, swap travel tips, share in the excitement of your upcoming adventure.  Please ask our freindly SWT staff for details.

Day 1 - Saturday 24 October 2026

Melbourne - Milan (Meals In Flight)

Meet your tour hostess and fellow travellers at Melbourne Airport for our flights to Italy.  Sit back, relax and enjoy the inflight entertainment as we head towards Milan.

Day 2 - Sunday 25 October 2026

Milan (D)

Welcome to Milan! Upon arrival, we'll be transferred to our hotel for check-in and a moment to refresh before the adventure begins. In the afternoon, dive into the heart of the city with a private guided tour of Milan’s most celebrated sights. Step inside the magnificent Duomo, marveling at its intricate Gothic details, and experience one of the world’s greatest masterpieces with reserved entrance to Leonardo da Vinci’s Last Supper. This immersive introduction brings Milan’s rich history, artistic brilliance, and architectural grandeur vividly to life.

This evening, enjoy a welcome dinner at a local restaurant

Day 3 - Monday 26 October 2026

Milan (B)

After breakfast, depart Milan for a scenic half-day escape to the breathtaking Lake Como,  enjoy the journey through northern Italy’s picturesque landscapes. Upon arriva we embark on a two-hour private cruise aboard a classic Taxi Veneziano, gliding across the crystal-clear waters of the lake. From the water, take in the timeless beauty of Lake Como’s elegant villas, charming villages, and dramatic mountain backdrops—an experience that perfectly captures the allure of one of Italy’s most exclusive destinations. Return to Milan in the afternoon

Day 4 - Tuesday 27 October 2026

Milan - Camogli (B, D)

This morning we will transfer by train to Camogli.

In the afternoon we will arrive in Camogli a paradise for nature and hiking enthusiasts, it’s also rich in historically significant sites, including the Basilica of Santa Maria Assunta dating back to the twelfth century and standing on the ancient medieval island, the hub of the village. Accessible from the small square of the nearby marina, today it represents the symbol of Camogli, in the past, it was where the political and religious life of the hamlet was carried out. If time permits visit Dragone Castle, overlooking the most extreme part of Camogli and providing picturesque views of the sea and the village.

Day 5 - Wednesday 28 October 2026

Camogli to Portifino via San Frutuosso (B)

This morning after a short private transfer from Camogli today’s walk starts from San Rocco, via the Portofino Regional Park.The cobbled path is surrounded by olive groves with lovely views over the countryside that surrounds Camogli. As we wind downward through the olive terraces we will glimpse the gorgeous beach of San Frutuosso and its sparkling turquoise water.
Take the time to explore the San Frutuosso Abbey before heading to the picturesque town of Portofino, an easy2-hour walk  Enjoy wonderful views from IlFaro (the Light House) located at the extreme point of the promontory, just 1km from Portofino where we will catch the train or boat back to Camogli.

Day 6 - Thursday 29 October 2026

Bonassola to Devia Marina via Framura (B)

Today we have a short train ride to the charming village of Bonassola (with our luggage), where we will enjoy the coastal beauty and breathtaking views of the East Riviera along the way to Framura. While in Framura take in the sea views from Scoglio Ciamia, this beautiful rock formation protects the small port where boats moor, perhaps take time for a swim in the crystal-clear water. Although it’s not a large town Framura has several churches worth visiting.  Savour the local Ligurian at a local trattoria in the village.  Continue to Deiva Marina and return to Bonassola by train.

Day 7 - Friday 30 October 2026

Bonassola to Monterosso Al Mare via Levanto (B,D)

We will start todays walk on a trail that runs along an old railroad. We will traverse coastal paths, walk through tunnels and over bridges, enjoy the spectacular views over the sea and marvel at the terraced hills covered with vineyards, lemon trees and olive groves arriving in thel ovely town of Levanto. The Church of Sant’Andrea’s is worth a visit for its striking façade of white Carra marble and local green serpentine. We then make out way to Punta Mesco and walk down towards the Village of Monterosso.

Day 8 - Saturday 31 October 2026

Soviore to Monterosso via Vernazza (B)

A short transfer will take us to Soviore Monastery, where we will stop for a visit before starting the walk back to Monterosso via Vernazza. The trail has variety in its slopes and rises and is famous for its diversity of greenery and landscapes. The hiking path through the Mediterranean scrub then descends to the Madonna di Reggio, a sanctuary hidden in the hills behind the little town of Vernazza. We visit the Costello Doria and Gelateria Vernazza, before making our way back to Monterosso along the panoramic coastal path.

Day 9 - Sunday 1 November 2026

Corniglia - Volastra- Riomaggiore (B)

A short train ride takes us to the village of Corniglia wherethe day’s walking starts. The first part of the hike to Volastra, the mountain village is quite steep through vineyards, with ocean views. The trail then flattens and winds along terraces with breathtaking views towards the town of Riomaggiore.  Enjoy the lively atmosphere with plenty of restaurants to choose from and local shops to explore. From here we take a train back to Monterosso.

Day 10 - Monday 2 November 2026

Riomaggorie to Potovenere via Campiglia (B,D)

Today our hike starts in Riomaggiore, just a short train ride from Monterosso. The first part of the walk on parts of a narrow-cobbled trail heads upwards to Colle del Telegrafo, where we will continue through the woodland and descend into the tiny village of Campiglia. The stretch from Campiglia to Potovenere offers wonderful views of the coastline, the town, impressive cliffs of Potovenere and the bay of La Spezia.

Day 11 - Tuesday 3 November 2026

Portovenere (B)

Congratulations on completing the Cinque Terre Five Villages Walk!  Today we enjoy a well deserved day of rest and spend more time exploring Portovenere.

Day 12 - Wednesday 4 November 2026

Portovenere - Venice (B)

After breakfast we make our way to the La Spezia railway station for our train journey to Venice

Arrival at Venice train station and private transfer to the hotel by water taxi. The scenic transfer through the canals provides a first unforgettable impression of the city. Check-in at the hotel and remainder of the day at leisure.

Day 13 - Thursday 5 November 2026

Venice (B)

This morning after breakfast we join our local guide for a private walking tour of Venice.  Wander through the city’s most iconic neighborhoods as our guide brings to life Venice’s fascinating history, artistic heritage, and one-of-a-kind layout of canals and hidden passageways. The experience continues with a classic 30-minute private gondola ride, offering a beautifully romantic perspective of the city from the water. Glide past historic façades and quiet canals, soaking in the timeless charm.

Day 14 - Friday 6 November 2026

Venice (B,D)

Today is dedicated to exploring the enchanting Venetian Lagoon with the freedom and comfort of private water taxis. Cruise effortlessly between the lagoon’s most captivating islands— Murano, famed for its glassmaking heritage; colorful Burano, known for its lace and vibrant houses, a wonderful experience revealing the authentic traditions, craftsmanship, and serene beauty of Venice beyond the main canals.

Day 15 - Saturday 7 November 2026

Venice - Home (B, meals in flight)
