Itinerary
Day 1 Friday 23 October
Melbourne - Apollo Bay (L, D)
We are heading down the iconic Great Ocean Road for a perfectly paced, two-day escape packed with great food and spectacular scenery.
Our first day balances coastal style with rainforest magic. We will start with a relaxing morning tea at Split Point Lighthouse Cafe, followed by a quick stroll in Lorne. For lunch, we are stopping at the Apollo Bay Distillery to savour a mixture of canapés and artisanal wood-fired pizzas in a great local atmosphere. Afterwards, we will enjoy a private guided Tour at Wildlife Wonders. Our Nature Guide will share with us the secrets of the bush and the plants and animals of the Otways that call the Sanctuary home. We finish the day with a refreshing boardwalk stroll through the giant tree ferns at Maits Rest.
This evening we'll enjoy a spectacular dinner at Chris’s Beacon Point Restaurant. Perched high on the ridge above the ocean, this venue features floor-to-ceiling glass walls that look out over a breathtaking panoramic sunset. It is a stunning dining space. We will arrive for pre-dinner drinks to watch the light change over the water, followed by a two-course meal.
Overnight - The International Hotel (or similar)
Day 2 Saturday 24 October
Port Campbell - Melbourne (B)
Day Two begins with a continental breakfast in our rooms, followed by free time to stroll Apollo Bay at our leisure.
Next, we will marvel at the region's big icons, the Twelve Apostles and Loch Ard Gorge. The journey continues to the beautiful seaside village of Port Campbell for lunch at Waves Cafe and time to wander the local galleries.
Finally, enjoy a relaxing cruise home via a smooth inland route, stopping to stretch our legs at the historic Winchelsea riverside before arriving back in Melbourne around 5:15 PM.
