Itinerary

Day One - Saturday 14 February 2026

Melbourne - Violet Town - Benalla - Silo Trail - Yarrawonga (D)

Welcome to our 2-Day Markets & Silos of North Eastern Victoria.  Meet at our designated departure point in Melbourne at 8.30 am. Here we'll travel to Violet Town in the Goulburn Valley home to one of the best country Victorian markets.  We'll spend some time browsing the 230-plus stalls with the opportunity to fill your sisterhood shopping bag with all sorts of goodies.

Lunch can be enjoyed at the market with an array of tasty delights on offer before we continue onto Yarrawonga via Benalla.  Benalla is a lovely country town featuring some of Victoria's best Street Wall Art.  We'll meet our guide for a tour of the many fabulous murals that adorn much of Benalla.  We then head towards Yarrawonga via 3 Silo sites including the Tungamah Silos which feature Brolgas and Kookaburras, a short distance away the Devenish Silos with their impressive Nurses on display and the final silos we'll be visiting will be at Goorambat where the Country Scene and the Barking Owls will impress before finally visiting the nearby Goorambat Uniting Church to visit "Sophia" the stunning wall art by famous Adnate whose work also adorns many of the walls in Benalla. Spectacular and amazing that in this tiny little hamlet such amazing art can be found.

We arrive into Yarrawonga for check in.  Dinner tonight at a local hotel.  Yarrawonga, known as the Sun Country on the Murray is aptly named as the Mighty Murray River forms the border between Victoria and New South Wales.

Overnight - Yarrawonga Central Motel (or similar)

Day Two - Sunday 15 February 2026

Yarrawonga - Strathmerton - Shepparton - Melbourne (L)

Breakfast today at a nearby cafe with time to explore the shopping precinct of Yarrawonga, including the Rich Glen Provodore store offering over 100 different locally made olive oils, pantry items, beauty products, and more.

We then enjoy a paddlesteamer cruise onboard the historic P.S. Cumberoona, a replica of the paddle steamers which worked their way up and down the mighty Murray in the days when the river was the primary link to the trading world. The original paddle steamer Cumberoona, launched at Echuca in 1866, was named after the Cumberoona Station on the Upper Murray. Cumberoona is an Aboriginal word that means “Crooked River”.

We'll either enjoy lunch onboard or at a local cafe/restaurant.

We continue onto Cactus Country, the largest Cactus farm in Australia, to explore the gardens and marvel at the blooms, shapes, and sizes of these prickly sensations—a fantastic garden of over 4000 species of cacti and succulents.

We'll head home via Shepparton, stopping for lunch somewhere en route, heading back to Melbourne, arriving around 6 pm.

Thank you for joining us for our latest Mini Break, and we look forward to welcoming you back!
