Day 1 - Sunday 4 July 2021

Melbourne - Kununurra (D)

Welcome to Sisterhood Womens Travel.  Meet your Sisterhood Hostess and fellow travellers at the Melbourne Airport for our flight to Kununurra in Western Australia. Sit back and enjoy the flight as we fly over the vast Australian Outback.  Upon our arrival we'll be met by our Kimberley tour team.

We start our adventure with a visit to Mirima National park, also known as Hidden Valley, a mini version of the Bungle Bungles.

Later we head to our accommodation for a 2 night stay and meet & greet with our fellow passengers. Tonight we will enjoy a welcome dinner - a wonderful way to start our Kimberley adventure!

Overnight - Lake Argyle Resort (ensuited cabins)

Day 2 - Monday 5 July 2021

Lake Argyle Cruise - Helicopter (B,D)

We will be sightseeing from the air this morning with Helicopter flights of Lake Argyle and the surrounding area. From up here we see the vast expansion of the “Lake” in all her splendour. We take a tour of the “Durack Homestead” - a slice of iconic Australian history. The magnificent homestead was originally built in 1895 by the Durack family on Argyle Downs Station (now mostly submerged by the lake). Later we enjoy a cruise of the Lake. We soak up the atmosphere and the beauty of the region that is the Kimberley, before enjoying our evening meal.

Overnight -  Lake Argyle Resort (ensuited cabins)

Day 3 - Tuesday 6 July 2021

Zebra Rock - Ord River (B,D)

We start the day with a visit to Zebra Rock mine, which is situated on a mango plantation on the banks of the Ord River. Here we learn about this coloured stone and how it is turned into beautiful jewellery, wine racks and sculptures. Zebra rocks have only been found in Lake Argyle catchment of northern Australia and are believed to have formed 1.2 billion years ago.

Later in the day we see the dam wall, which holds back the equivalent of 21 Sydney Harbour waters before taking a fantastic cruise down the Ord River to Kununurra. We spot crocodiles and birdlife before reaching the lower end of the river.

Tonight we settle into our accommodation for 2 nights. “Oh this is the life”

Overnight - Ibis Styles Kununurra (ensuited room)

Day 4 - Wednesday 7 July 2021

El Questro Station and Emma Gorge (B)

Today we travel along the Gibb River Road to El Questro Station and Zebedee Hot Springs. It’s time for a dip before visiting the Station on the Pentecost River. This is a beautiful area of the Kimberley, a must see. Later we continue to Emma Gorge which is hidden within the fiery red of El Questro's Cockburn Ranges. Later we return to Kununurra after a spectacular day in the Kimberley. (Emma Gorge Difficulty: To the half way point the first part of this trail is classed as relatively easy with some sections of broken rock and riverbed. From that point it then becomes more difficult. (It is a 2 hour return walk)

Overnight -  Ibis Styles Kununurra (ensuited room)

Day 5 - Thursday 8 July 2021

Kununurra - Halls Creek (B,D)

This morning you have the chance to fly over the amazing Bungle Bungles - Fixed Wing Aircraft - $399 per person, 2 hours, please reserve your place at time of booking.

We then travel to Halls Creek, on the edge of the Great Sandy Desert. The town is full of stories and relics as it was the site of Western Australia’s first gold rush. One of the more famous stories is of Russian Jack, a man who carried his injured mate in a wheelbarrow for over 300 kilometres to get medical attention. A statue is dedicated to his amazing feat here in town

Overnight - Halls Creek Motel (ensuited motel room)

Day 6 - Friday 9 July 2021

Halls Creek - China Wall - Fitzroy Crossing (B,D)

This morning after breakfast we will travel just outside of town to the China Wall. The amazing natural white stone formations rise high out of the ground and then disappear back into the earth again making it look like a miniature Great Wall of China. We then continue through the magnificent scenery of the Kimberley to Fitzroy Crossing for our overnight stay.

Overnight - Fitzroy River Lodge (ensuited room)

Day 7 - Saturday 10 July 2021

Tunnel Creek National Park and Windjana Gorge (B,L,D)

Departing Fitzroy Crossing, we travel towards Tunnel Creek. Tunnel Creek National Park covers 91 hectares in the Napier Range, a range that can also be seen at Windjana Gorge. The main feature of the park is of course the 750 metre tunnel that a creek has worn through the Napier Range. The tunnel is the oldest cave system in Western Australia. It became famous in the late 1800's. Aboriginal leader and "outlaw" Jandamarra (better known as "Pigeon") was using the "Cave of Bats" as his hideout. We explore the tunnel and its mysteries before making our way to Windjana Gorge. Windjana Gorge is a 3.5 km gorge, carved out of the Napier Range by the Lennard River. The walls on both sides of Windjana Gorge are 30 to 100 metres high, and the gorge is over 100 metres wide. It’s here we investigate this wonderful area. Later we travel towards the Gibb River Road to our accommodation in Derby.

Overnight - Spinafex Hotel - (ensuited motel room)

Day 8 - Sunday 11 July 2021

Derby - Broome (B,D)

We head towards Broome today, but first we visit Derby and the Famous Prison Tree. Derby's claim to fame is having the highest tides of any Australian port. 11 m (36 feet) of tidal difference means there is an enormous amount of water rushing in and out every 6 hours. Derby calls itself the "Home of the Boab Tree". Boabs are used as street trees and give the town a special character. We check out the jetty before making our way to Broome. In the afternoon we head to Cable Beach and enjoy dinner and the magnificent sunset.

Overnight - Mercure Broome – (ensuited motel room)

Day 9 - Monday 12 July 2021

Broome sightseeing (B)

Today is all about Broome. We have a town tour before we can explore this pearling town. Shop for pearls in Chinatown; see dinosaur footprints and birdwatch in Roebuck Bay or we can stroll through the famous Broome markets.

Whatever you fancy, Broome will captivate you.

Overnight - Mercure Broome (ensuited motel room)

Day 10 - Tuesday 13 July 2021

Broome - Home (B)

After a relaxing breakfast this morning, check out and transfer to the airport for our flight back home to Melbourne. What an amazing Outback adventure we've shared.  We thank you for travelling with Sisterhood Womens Travel and look forward to welcoming you back!
