Itinerary

Day 1 - Monday 23 March 2026

Melbourne - Launceston (L, D)

Welcome to Sisterhood Womens Travel. Meet your Sisterhood Tour Hostess at the Melbourne Airport for our short flight to Tasmania.

Our adventure begins in Launceston where our Driver/Guide will greet us at Launceston Airport. First stop is the Tasmanian Gourmet Sauce Company to enjoy a wonderful BBQ lunch featuring their jams and preserves followed by a guided tour of the beautiful gardens.

After an introductory tour of Launceston, we visit the beautiful Cataract Gorge with its cliff-side gardens, peacocks, pools, suspension foot bridge and one of the longest single span chairlifts in the world (ride is optional and at own expense). We will then will meander through the Tamar Valley wine region for some wine sampling before settling into our accommodation on the banks of the Tamar River. Dinner this evening will be in the Hotel Restaurant "Grain of the Silos".

Day 2 - Tuesday 24 March 2026

Launceston - Freycinet National Park (B, D)

This morning we will travel the Heritage Highway south through the town of Campbell Town to Ross, noted for it’s historic bridge, original sandstone buildings and convict history. Enjoy a famous vanilla slice or scallop pie at the bakery with it ‘s original wood fired oven and wander the streets looking at the heritage listed buildings.  Afterwards travel the Lake Leake Highway through to the East Coast. Enjoy a stop at the oldest East Coast Vineyard Craigie Knowe where can have a tasting, tour and delicious lunch (own expense) amongst the vines. Next stop is Freycinet Marine Farm, the home of Tasmania’s finest seafood. Enjoy a sample and see oysters being shucked (own expense).

We will now travel to Freycinet National Park to view the unique visitor centre and walk along Richardson’s Beach, with it’s stunning backdrop of the Hazards - a spectacular granite Mountain range rising from the sheltered turquoise bays. Check in to the magnificent Freycinet Lodge, overlooking the waters of Great Oyster Bay, and connect with the stunning natural environment in secluded, stylish and comfortable cabin accommodation. Enjoy a sumptuous dinner in the "Bay Restaurant" this evening.

Day 3 - Wednesday 25 March 2026

Wineglass Bay Cruise - Cape Tourville (B, L, D)

This morning, we join a cruise to view the spectacular coastline of Freycinet National Park and to see the iconic Wineglass Bay from the water. Enjoy the vessel Schouten Passage II, a Tasmanian-built catamaran ideal for exploring the east coast of Tasmania. The spacious enclosed vessel contains comfortable seating across a fully air-conditioned lounge area. The waters surrounding Freycinet National Park are home to diverse and remarkable wildlife. Keep a look out for sea eagles roosting on the granite cliffs, pods of dolphins surfing the bow wave and Australian fur seals hauling out along the coast. Join the search for humpback and southern right whales as they migrate. Also watch for diverse birdlife including albatross, shearwaters, diving gannets and little penguins. A delicious gourmet Tasmanian lunch box is provided when anchored in the crystal waters of Wineglass Bay. 

Afterwards, we visit Cape Tourville Lighthouse and Lookout for an easy walk that offers remarkable coastal views.

The afternoon is then free for us to enjoy the National Park or relax in our luxury accommodation before dinner in the magnificent "Bay Restaurant".

Day 4 - Thursday 26 March 2026

Freycinet National Park - Hobart (B, D)

Leaving Freycinet, we travel south along the Great Eastern Drive through the town of Swansea. Enjoy a short stop at the convict built Spiky Bridge made from local field stones. Join a tour of the innovative, clean energy salt works at Tasman Sea Salt. Learn about sea salt harvest in an immersive experience whilst sampling small bites paired with the sea salts and locally sourced produce. Wine tasting is also available (own expense).

Next stop is the quaint fishing town of Triabunna, sitting at the edge of Spring Bay and the gateway to Maria Island National Park, for lunch at the Spring Bay Hotel or famous fish punt (own expense). After lunch we will travel to Spring Bay Distillery for a distillery tour and gin or whisky tasting. We will then continue through the Coal Valley to the charming town of Richmond. This intact colonial era town oozes photogenic history with the oldest bridge in Australia and more than 50 Georgian buildings. There are many galleries, cafes and buildings to explore. We will now travel into the city of Hobart across the Tasman Bridge to our luxury waterfront accommodation, the Story telling hotel Macq01, where every detail reflects Tasmania's rich heritage and unique character traits. Enjoy a story telling tour by the Master Storyteller, guiding you through the patchwork of stories and characters that reside in their hallways.

Later this afternoon, enjoy drinks (own expense) in the famous Evolve Bar with its unique collection of fossils and artefacts from across the globe. Dinner will be in the "Old Wharf Restaurant" at the hotel this evening.

Day 5 - Friday 27 March 2026

Kunanyi - Female Convict History (B)

Today will be a relaxed day in the city of Hobart. Start the day with a trip up Kunanyi (Mt Wellington) to enjoy panoramic views of the Derwent Estuary and channel. Afterwards, tour the Cascades Female Factory to hear the dramatic and heartfelt story of the convict women and girls who contributed to Australian colonisation. Afterwards, feel free to wander Constitution Dock and other parts of Hobart's beautiful waterfront, take the ferry to the unique MONA or visit the many shops in the CBD.

Dinner tonight will be at an iconic local waterfront restaurant (own expense).

Day 6 - Saturday 28 March 2026

Salamanca Market - Bruny Island - Mt Nelson (B)

This morning, we will spend time at the famous Salamanca Market, with over 200 stalls there is something for everyone, browse the stalls laden with fresh produce, handmade products and gift ideas. Afterwards we travel south to Kettering to board the ferry and cross the beautiful D’Entrecasteaux Channel to Bruny Island. Not only can Bruny Island boast some of Tasmania’s most superb scenery of sweeping beaches, mountains and spectacular capes and bays, but it also has a fascinating history. Notable early visitors include Captain Furneaux (1773) Captain Cook (1777) and Bligh (1788 & 1792) in the ‘Bounty’ who planted the Tasmania's first apple tree. We arrive at Roberts Point on North Bruny and tour south with a stop at "The Neck" for fabulous views from the lookout. We continue to scenic Adventure Bay and admire the pristine beach where we will stop for lunch at Pennicott Restaurant (own expense) which prides itself on offering the freshest local produce overlooking the bay.

After lunch, we visit Bruny Island Chocolate, which offers a superb quality range of fudge, truffles and chocolate sauces. Next, visit Inala Nature and tour the Jurassic Garden which has a collection of over 750 species of plants that have connections to the Gondwanan Supercontinent (about 185 million years ago). On return to the ferry there is an optional stop at the Oyster and Honey Farm. We then travel back to Kettering and on to Hobart, via Mt Nelson Lookout to take in the panoramic views of the city and Derwent Estuary.

After a full day's touring we will return to our hotel with time to freshen up before going out to a local restaurant for dinner (own expense).

Day 7 - Sunday 29 March 2026

Hobart - Home (B)

Today after breakfast and check out we will visit the sheltered, landscaped grounds of the Royal Tasmanian Botanical Gardens which hold historic plant collections and a large number of significant trees, many dating from the nineteenth century before heading to the airport for our flight home,
