Twin Share Accommodation
As the MS Deborah is a boutique canal barge with cosy, compact cabins, twin share accommodation is reserved for friends travelling together.
For the comfort and privacy of all travellers, we are unable to offer our usual "Willing to Share" room matching service on this particular journey. If you wish to book a twin share cabin, both travellers must be travelling companions and book together.
Single cabins are available in limited numbers and are subject to availability.
Moderate Fitness Rating – A moderate level of fitness is required for these tours due to the itinerary's pace and the physical demands of certain sightseeing activities. Travellers should be comfortable walking more than 10,000 steps per day, often over uneven surfaces, cobblestones, inclines and for extended periods without frequent rest stops. You must be able to board and disembark coaches, trains and boats independently, manage stairs where lifts may not be available, and handle your own luggage when required. MS Deborah - A canal barge cruise is an authentic and timeless experience. A privileged moment where you take the time to discover “la douce France” in a different way. The MS Deborah is a superb Premium canal barge, measuring 38,50 meters long and 5,07 meters wide. It can accommodate 22 passengers in 11 cabins, offering amenities and all the comforts guests need during their stay. On board, everything has been taken care of down to the smallest detail, with 6 crew members to guarantee a personalised service. The decoration creates a particularly soft and welcoming atmosphere. Located on the upper deck are the restaurant, which offers delicate cuisine in a refined setting, the lounge bar and a relaxation area with a jacuzzi. Comfortable sun loungers are provided on the sun deck, the ideal place to relax and admire the surrounding landscapes.
Tipping - While service charges are generally included in restaurant and café bills throughout France, tipping remains customary for local guides, drivers, hotel staff and cruise crew. To make things easy, Sisterhood Womens Travel operates a tipping kitty on this tour. Passengers contribute a set amount at the beginning of the journey, which is collected by your tour hostess and distributed on your behalf throughout the tour, including to the crew of the MS Deborah. This allows you to relax and enjoy the experience without needing to carry cash or consider individual tipping situations each day. The estimated tipping amount for this tour will be confirmed in your final documentation.

From here, we travel directly to the enchanting Loire Valley, renowned for its fairytale châteaux, picturesque villages and rich history.
After checking into our charming hotel, take some time to relax and refresh following your flight. This evening, we come together for a special welcome dinner at the hotel, the perfect opportunity to meet your fellow travellers and raise a glass to the wonderful experiences that lie ahead.

Amboise - Loire Valley Exploring (B, L, D)
This morning, we set off to discover two of the Loire Valley’s most magnificent and iconic châteaux.
Our first visit is to the elegant Château de Chenonceau, often referred to as the “Ladies’ Château” due to the remarkable women who shaped its history. Enjoy a guided tour of this stunning Renaissance masterpiece, gracefully spanning the River Cher.
We then return to Amboise for a guided wine tasting at the renowned Caves Ambacia, where we will be introduced to the rich wine-making traditions of the Loire Valley before enjoying lunch together.
This afternoon, prepare to be impressed by the grandeur of Château de Chambord, the largest château in the Loire Valley. Renowned for its magnificent architecture, vast estate and extraordinary double-helix staircase, believed to have been inspired by Leonardo da Vinci, Chambord is a true highlight of the region.
We return to Amboise in the early evening, with time to relax and reflect on a day immersed in the history, culture and flavours of the Loire Valley.

Enjoy a relaxed morning in the charming town of Amboise, with time to explore at your own pace. Stroll through the historic streets, browse local boutiques, pick up a few French treasures, or simply unwind and soak up the atmosphere of the beautiful Loire Valley.
After lunch and check-out, we farewell the Loire Valley and journey east through the picturesque French countryside to Beaune, the historic capital of Burgundy's celebrated wine region.

Today is market day in Beaune, providing the perfect opportunity to experience the vibrant atmosphere of this beautiful Burgundian town. Enjoy some free time this morning to wander through the bustling market, where local producers showcase an array of regional delicacies, fresh produce, artisan goods and traditional French specialties.
Late morning, we set off for a memorable culinary and wine experience at the prestigious Château du Clos de Vougeot, one of Burgundy’s most iconic wine estates. Enjoy a guided tour of this historic château, steeped in centuries of winemaking tradition, before settling in for a dégustation lunch showcasing the region's exceptional flavours and wines.
This afternoon, we venture into the countryside to the picturesque hamlet of Concoeur for a unique taste of Burgundy’s fruit-growing heritage. At Ferme Fruirouge, the Olivier family will share their passion for cultivating the region’s famous red berries, including raspberries, strawberries and blackcurrants.
During a guided visit through the orchards and berry fields, learn about traditional farming practices and discover how their prized fruit is transformed into a range of artisanal products. The experience concludes with a tasting of local specialties, including juices, jams, fruit coulis and the region’s celebrated cassis, offering a delicious insight into one of Burgundy’s most treasured traditions.

This afternoon, we visit the renowned La Moutarderie Fallot, the last independent family-owned mustard mill in Burgundy. During this interactive experience, discover the fascinating history and traditional production methods behind one of France’s most iconic condiments. Learn how mustard is crafted from seed to jar and, subject to availability, enjoy the opportunity to create your very own Burgundy mustard to take home.

After breakfast and hotel check-out, we travel to the elegant city of Dijon, the historic capital of Burgundy. Enjoy time to explore this charming city, known for its beautiful architecture, lively squares and rich culinary heritage, before enjoying lunch at leisure.
This afternoon, we continue our journey north through the picturesque French countryside to the world-famous Champagne region. As the landscape transforms into rolling vineyards, anticipation builds for the next chapter of our French adventure.

This morning, discover the rich history and grandeur of Reims on a guided city tour, including a visit to the magnificent Reims Cathedral, one of France’s most important Gothic masterpieces and the traditional coronation site of French kings.
Later, indulge in an exceptional gastronomic experience at the elegant Maison Cordon Rouge, the historic residence of the directors of Maison Mumm. Nestled within a private mansion surrounded by tranquil gardens, this exclusive dining experience combines refined French cuisine with the artistry of Champagne.
Begin with a sophisticated aperitif before enjoying a beautifully curated four-course tasting menu showcasing the finest seasonal ingredients. Each course is thoughtfully paired with selected Champagnes from the prestigious Maison Mumm or RSRV collections, creating a memorable culinary journey that celebrates the flavours and traditions of the Champagne region.

Today, we depart Reims and head back to Paris, where upon arrival we’ll board our exclusive premium canal barge, the beautiful MS Deborah, where, for the next seven days, we’ll enjoy an authentic and timeless journey through the captivating Oise Valley. As we gently cruise along the peaceful Oise River, we’ll discover charming villages, wooded countryside, and a region rich in history, culture, and French elegance.
Our cruise offers a wonderful blend of sightseeing, relaxation, and immersive cultural experiences. We’ll visit the magnificent Château de Malmaison, once home to Napoleon and Josephine, and in Auvers-sur-Oise, follow in the footsteps of Van Gogh while discovering the artistic café culture that inspired so many great painters of the time. The stunning Château de Chantilly provides a true insight into the French art de vivre, while a moving visit to the Armistice Memorial in Compiègne offers an opportunity to reflect on those who sacrificed their lives more than a century ago.
Of course, no French journey would be complete without indulging in the delights of French cuisine. Along the way, we’ll enjoy exceptional regional dishes and even participate in a special crème chantilly masterclass hosted by a member of the prestigious Confrérie des Chevaliers Fouetteurs.
With a dedicated crew of six, personalised service is assured throughout our voyage. This morning, we’ll enjoy a leisurely cruise along the Seine towards the charming riverside village of Bougival, soaking up the peaceful scenery and elegant atmosphere that make French canal cruising so special.
This afternoon, we’ll step back in time with an included guided visit to the magnificent Château de Malmaison, the beloved residence of Joséphine Bonaparte. Originally built in the 17th century, the château became the private retreat of Napoleon and Joséphine and later served as an important seat of government during the early years of the Empire.
As we wander through its beautifully preserved rooms, we’ll gain a fascinating insight into the lives of one of France’s most famous couples. Discover the library where Napoleon liked to work, the council chamber styled like a military tent, and the elegant music salon showcasing Joséphine’s treasured harp and exquisite “troubadour” paintings. Throughout the château, remarkable artworks, furnishings, and personal belongings evoke the grandeur and refinement of the Napoleonic era.
Even after her divorce from Napoleon in 1809, Joséphine remained deeply attached to Malmaison and continued living here until her death in 1814. Today, the château and its Napoleonic museum beautifully preserve her legacy, offering visitors an authentic glimpse into a bygone world of elegance, romance, and history.
After our visit, we’ll return to the comfort of our floating boutique hotel, where the MS Deborah will remain docked in Bougival overnight.

This morning, we’ll continue our leisurely cruise through the picturesque French countryside as we make our way towards the charming town of Pontoise. Relax on the sun deck and enjoy the ever-changing scenery of peaceful waterways, riverside villages, and lush landscapes that make this region so enchanting.
This afternoon, we’ll set off on an included excursion to the beautiful artists’ village of Auvers-sur-Oise, forever linked with some of France’s greatest painters. Our first visit will be to the Maison-Atelier de Daubigny, the former home and studio of celebrated landscape artist Charles-François Daubigny. Built in 1861, this inspiring residence became a gathering place for renowned artists, including Camille Corot, Honoré Daumier, and Berthe Morisot. Today, the studio remains wonderfully preserved, with its walls still displaying remarkable artworks and traces of the creativity that once flourished here.
We’ll then continue to the Pressoir Auversois vineyards, where a once-forgotten local wine heritage has been lovingly revived. Set amidst the idyllic countryside surrounding Auvers-sur-Oise, we’ll discover the vineyards and traditional wine press while learning about the region’s winemaking traditions.
To complete this delightful afternoon, we’ll visit La Tomme d’Isa, a charming artisanal cheese dairy in the heart of the village, where we’ll indulge in a tasting of locally produced cheeses, cold cuts, and regional wines — a true celebration of French gastronomy and country living.
Following our excursion, we’ll return to the MS Deborah in Auvers-sur-Oise, where we’ll remain docked overnight. This evening is yours to enjoy at leisure, perhaps with a quiet stroll through town or a relaxing evening onboard with friends for company.

Pontoise - Auvers-Sur-Oise - Saint-Leu-D'Esserent (B, L, D)
Included excursion: Auvers-sur-Oise and the Musée de l’Absinthe. We'll head towards Auvers-sur-Oise. Stretching almost four miles (seven kilometres) along the Oise Riverbank, Auvers-sur-Oise was Vincent Van Gogh's last home and final resting place. We'll stroll through the picturesque village streets and along the Artists' Pathway, where works by famous Impressionists compare the current landscapes and architecture. Our next stop will be the Musée de l’Absinthe, which recreates the ambience of Belle Époque cafés, when the "green fairy" was the preferred drink of poets and artists. The museum collection gives us great insight into 19th-century French culture. We'll finish up our tour with a demonstration of the absinthe ritual and a tasting, of course. We’ll return to the ship in Auvers-sur-Oise for lunch. We’ll then spend the afternoon cruising to Saint-Leu-d’Esserent.
Calling all dessert lovers! If you would like to learn how to prepare France's legendary crème chantilly, a member of the Confrérie des Chevaliers Fouetteurs will join us on board this afternoon to talk about this traditional culinary delight. Learn how to whip up delicious, authentic whipped cream by hand!
After dinner, take some time on your own to explore Saint-Leu-d’Esserent. The more adventurous can head to the impressive abbatial church for great views of the surrounding valley. We'll remain in port overnight.

Saint-Leu-D'Esserent - Pont-Sainte-Maxence - Compiegne (B, L, D)
This morning, we’ll enjoy an included excursion to the magnificent Château de Chantilly, regarded as one of the most beautiful and refined castles in France. Steeped in elegance and history, this extraordinary estate was the passion project of Henri d’Orléans, Duke of Aumale and son of the last King of France, Louis-Philippe. A passionate collector and patron of the arts, the Duke assembled one of the most impressive art collections of his era, transforming Chantilly into a treasure trove of masterpieces, rare manuscripts, and priceless antiques.
As we explore this princely domain, it will feel as though time has stood still. Since being gifted to the Institut de France, the château has remained remarkably preserved, allowing visitors to experience the grandeur and sophistication of 19th-century aristocratic life. We’ll wander through magnificent art galleries where paintings have hung untouched for generations, admire the lavish reception rooms and private suites, and discover the château’s extraordinary library, home to one of the most important collections of books and manuscripts in France.
Following our visit, we’ll return to Pont-Sainte-Maxence for lunch onboard the MS Deborah before continuing our leisurely cruise towards the historic town of Compiègne.
This evening, we’ll remain docked overnight, giving us the opportunity to enjoy a relaxed evening at leisure — perhaps soaking up the atmosphere onboard, sharing stories over dinner, or simply enjoying the peaceful charm of this beautiful region of France.

Compiegne - Pont-Leveque (Oise) B, L, D)
Today, we’ll discover the rich history and elegance of Compiègne on a guided tour through its charming medieval streets, admiring the impressive Town Hall, historic homes, and sampling delicious regional specialties. We’ll then visit the poignant Armistice Memorial, home to the famous railway carriage where the 1918 Armistice ending World War I was signed, along with fascinating wartime artefacts and memorials honouring those who sacrificed their lives.
Our journey continues to the magnificent Château de Compiègne, one of France’s grand imperial residences, renowned for its stunning neoclassical architecture and lavish interiors. After returning onboard for lunch, we’ll cruise to Pont-l’Évêque before later exploring the historic city of Noyon, where over 2,000 years of heritage meet vibrant modern culture. Here, we’ll visit the beautiful Notre Dame Cathedral, one of the earliest examples of Gothic architecture in northern France.
Tonight, we’ll celebrate our unforgettable French canal journey together with a festive gala evening onboard the MS Deborah.

This morning, we bid farewell to our river cruise and begin our Parisian adventure. While our luggage is transferred directly from the ship to our hotel, we are free to enjoy a wonderful day discovering the magic of the City of Light.
Our day begins with a guided visit to the magnificent Opéra Garnier, one of Paris’s most breathtaking architectural masterpieces. Admire its grand staircase, lavish interiors and fascinating history as one of the world’s most celebrated opera houses.
We then continue to the Fragonard Perfume Museum for a unique and immersive fragrance experience. Learn about the art and history of French perfumery before creating our very own signature scent to take home as a special memento of our time in Paris.
Lunch is included in the heart of the elegant Opéra district, offering the opportunity to soak up the atmosphere of a classic Parisian neighbourhood while enjoying delicious French cuisine.
Later, we check into our Paris hotel, and the remainder of the day is free.

This evening, we come together one last time to celebrate an unforgettable journey through France. Our farewell dinner takes place at Madame Brasserie, beautifully located on the first floor of the Eiffel Tower.
Perched 58 metres above the City of Light, this elegant dining experience offers breathtaking panoramic views across Paris. As we reflect on the memories made, friendships formed and remarkable places discovered, it provides the perfect setting to toast the conclusion of our French adventure with our fellow travellers.
