Itinerary

Day 1 - Saturday 18 May 2019

Melbourne - Werribee - Geelong - Queenscliff (D)

Welcome to Sisterhood Womens Travel!  Meet your Mini Break Hostess and fellow travellers at Southern Cross Station at 10.00am.  We'll be travelling down to the beautiful Bellarine Peninsula stopping enroute to visit historical Werribee Park Mansion Werribee Park is a significant cultural and heritage attraction offering an authentic insight into Australia's richly diverse history.  The centrepiece of this jewel in the West is a superbly restored 1870s Italianate Mansion, originally built by Scottish squatters Thomas and Andrew Chirnside. Step back into a bygone era while admiring the beautifully restored rooms of the elaborate Mansion.

After our Mansion visit we'll continue onto Geelong to visit the impressive Geelong Waterfront one of Australia's most stunning waterfronts. This cosmopolitan and vibrant area is a hive of activity with restaurants and cafes, beautiful landscaped gardens, attractions and public art, all with amazing views of Corio bay.  We'll enjoy lunch at local cafe/restaurant (own cost) before continuing on to Queenscliff.  An afternoon at leisure.

Tonight we'll be collected and transferred to the legendary Blues Train.  The Blues Train has been rockin’ the rails since 1994. Starting small and inspired by stories of the old blues masters jamming on Mississippi freight trains, the Blues music and train travel combo has proved a great success and is now attracting great blues musos and entertainers from all around the world.  Our Blues Train buffet dinner will be served by the friendliest service staff this side of the track. On our arrival, we'll smell the delicious aromas of Smokey BBQ Angus beef and creamy baked mustard chicken wafting down the station. After dinner our train journey includes four musical performances of 30 minutes each, with an interval and rest stop between each. We'll change carriages at each interval so that we get to see all four acts.  In carriage A there is usually  a duo playing in the centre of the carriage. In carriage B a solo musician in the same spot. In carriage C there is usually a trio playing up one end and in Carriage D with seating along the sides and a dance floor in the middle - what a way to finish!

There will be three intervals along the Bellarine Railway during the night where everyone changes carriages and has an opportunity to go to the loo, go to the bar.  (The Bar is cash only so please ensure you have money to pay for your drinks in cash)

Our Blues Train will return to Queenscliff where we'll be transferred to our accommodation for our overnight stay in Queenscliff.

Overnight - Beacon Resort

Day 2 - Sunday 19 May 2019

Queenscliff - Geelong - Melbourne (B,L)

This morning after breakfast, (breakfast hamper packs are included in our room stay), we'll have time to explore the quaint seaside town of Queenscliff before enjoying lunch at Basil's Farm. Here we'll be seduced by the natural beauty of the location, the panoramic views across Swan Bay, the native birdlife, indigenous plants, and trees. With time to enjoy a walk through the extensive gardens, indulge in a wholesome, house-made dish in Basils Cafe and relax on the lawns overlooking the vineyard with a glass of wine surrounded by nature.  After our visit we'll begin heading back to Melbourne arriving back into Southern Cross at approx 4pm.  Thank you for travelling with Sisterhood Womens Travel and we look forward to welcoming you back for another adventure.
