Trek around the full base of Uluru and explore the most profound and culturally significant monolith in Australia. We will meet approximately one hour before sunrise at the entrance to the accommodation at Ayers Rock Resort to begin the journey into Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park. Then after arriving at the base of Uluru, we will begin your sunrise trek around the 12 kilometre base trail and embrace the culture, geology and environment that is the essence of this amazing monolith. Along the trail we will witness sunrise, visit waterholes and the rock art sites of the ancients and learn of Uluru’s cultural significance to the Anangu (local Aboriginal) people. Take time out to enjoy your picnic outback breakfast as we listen to the variety of desert noises from the surrounding environment. As we make our way around the base, our local guide will tell a number of stories associated with prominent Tjukurpa (Creation stories). From the Tjukurpa of Liru (poisonous snake) and Kuniya (woma python) learnt along the Kuniya Walk to Mutitjulu Waterhole to the story of the Mala people heard along the Mala Walk to Kantju Gorge, this full base walk gives the opportunity to truly immerse yourself in the beautiful culture and history of this amazing place.
