What a fabulous couple of weeks we shared on our Unhurried Greek Islands adventure!
Our journey began in Athens, where ancient history met modern-day fun. We explored the magnificent Acropolis, wandered through colourful Little Kook and bustling Monastiraki Square, and enjoyed a fabulous evening at an outdoor cinema under the Athenian sky.
Then it was time to slow things down and begin our island hopping, starting with beautiful Sifnos, often described as the gastronomic island of Greece. For three glorious nights we relaxed at the gorgeous Elies Resort, tucked away beside the sea, with plenty of time to swim, unwind and enjoy the wonderful food and slower pace of island life.
A ferry ride took us on to Milos, where we based ourselves in the gorgeous little seaside village of Pollonia. We ate our way around the island on a fabulous foodie tour, visited the extraordinary lunar-like landscape of Sarakiniko Beach and discovered the site where the famous Venus de Milo was found. Milos certainly gave us plenty of those “wow” moments!
And then, saving my favourite Greek island until last, we arrived in Paros — and it certainly didn’t disappoint. Our hotel was perfectly positioned within walking distance of beautiful Naousa, where whitewashed buildings draped in brilliant pink bougainvillea, gorgeous boutiques, waterfront restaurants and winding laneways made it very easy to fall in love with this special place.
One of our final highlights was a fabulous day out on the water, cruising the Aegean and swimming in those impossibly clear blue waters Greece is famous for. It was the perfect way to round out our island stay.
Then it was back to Athens for one final night and our farewell dinner — a chance to raise a glass to an incredible journey and, most importantly, to the wonderful group of women who shared it with me.
We arrived as a group of travellers and left with new friends for company. And really, that’s what Sisterhood is all about.
Until next time, Greece… Yamas!
