Our adventure began in the bustling city of Barcelona. Staying right in the heart of the city allowed us to immerse ourselves in its vibrant atmosphere. We started with a sightseeing tour that took us down the famous La Ramblas, a lively street filled with shops, cafes, and street performers. One of the highlights was the entrance to the Sagrada Familia, Gaudí's masterpiece. The sheer grandeur and intricate details of this basilica left us in awe. We explored the Gothic Quarter, a labyrinth of narrow medieval streets, and went to a paella cooking class.
We visited the charming towns of Leida and then headed to Zaragoza, San Sebastian with its Coastal Charm and Cultural Riches and Bilbao where we visited the famous Guggenheim Museum. Our journey continued to the breathtaking Picos de Europa National Park. We spent two nights surrounded by nature’s splendour, exploring the park and even taking a funicular ride for stunning panoramic views.
Crossing into Portugal we started with a guided foodie tour of Porto, famous for its wine. Tasting the local delicacies and exploring the city’s vibrant food scene was a delightful experience. A highlight in Malveira was a Pastel de Nata baking class, where we learned to make these delicious Portuguese custard tarts.
In Lisbon, we participated in a tile painting workshop and in Sintra we the enchanting Quinta da Regaleira Villa and Gardens. In Seville, we participated in a flamenco workshop, and in Granada we indulged in a tapas tour and a guided tour of the Alhambra and Generalife Gardens. Our journey concluded in Madrid with a day trip to Toledo. We ended our adventure on a high note with a farewell flamenco dinner and show, a fitting conclusion to our cultural odyssey.
This 24-day trip was a whirlwind of experiences, each destination offering its own unique charm and history. From the artistic wonders of Barcelona to the natural beauty of the Picos de Europa, and the cultural richness of Lisbon and Seville, every moment was unforgettable. Spain and Portugal’s vibrant cultures, delicious cuisines, and historic landmarks make them a must-visit for any travel enthusiast.
Traveling together, we've shared laughter that echoed through ancient streets and tears that brought us closer together. The support and camaraderie was nothing short of extraordinary. Your unwavering encouragement, empathy, and joy have not only made this trip unforgettable but also reaffirmed the very reason I do this job.
To the amazing women that travelled with me; thanks for the stories, the late-night chats, the adventures, and the moments of sheer joy. Your presence and spirit enriched this journey in ways words can barely describe.
Here's to the memories we've made, the friendships we've deepened, and the many more adventures to come. I am profoundly grateful for each of you and look forward to our paths crossing again soon.
