Norfolk Island has always felt like more than just a beautiful place, it’s a reminder of where we come from and the stories that shaped us. Every time I visit, I’m struck not only by its calm and simplicity but by the history that sits quietly beneath everyday life.
The island’s convict past is still present in the old buildings, ruins and cemetery at Kingston. Walking through them, you can’t help but think about the people who lived through those tough years and how their resilience helped form the community that exists today.
But what makes Norfolk truly special is the sense of family and magnificent scenery at every turn. So many people on the island are connected through generations, carrying with them the legacy of those who came before. There’s a strength in that an unspoken understanding of belonging and shared history.
Norfolk Island is a place that grounds you. It reminds you of the importance of family ties, of knowing your roots, and of holding on to the stories that make us who we are.
