K’gari & Sunshine Coast Christmas in July Getaway - July 2026 - Hostess Round Up - Shani Vander Youn

What an unforgettable 7-day getaway shared by the Sunshine Coast sisters! Nature truly stole the show from start to finish.

We kicked off and wrapped up our journey in sunny Noosa, staying in lovely apartment-style rooms at Peppers Noosa Resort. Our Noosa itinerary included a visit to the iconic Australia Zoo—a massive 280-hectare sanctuary, with 45 hectares open to the public. Apart from the crocodiles, of course, a standout highlight was the African section, which gave us a delightful taste of an authentic savannah.

Little did we know what incredible wonders awaited us over the next few days on K’gari! Our days there were action-packed as we set off on a 4WD adventure through the heart of the island, weaving through protected, lush rainforests. We learned about the famous Fraser Island Satinay trees, once logged because of their resistance to salt water, used to rebuild London’s docks after WWII. At Central Station, the former logging village, we strolled past towering Kauri pines and dense, varied vegetation and wondered at their ability to thrive in sand.

Driving onto 75 Mile Beach, we paused to explore the historic SS Maheno shipwreck and the crystal waters of Eli Creek. While the water was a bit chilly for a swim, the adventurous among us leaped at the chance to take a 15-minute scenic flight with Air Fraser. Soaring above the island to take in the views from above was an absolute highlight! We topped off the day with a visit to picturesque Lake McKenzie, followed by a festive "Christmas in July" themed dinner with delicious food.

The magic continued the next morning on our half-day whale-watching cruise. Barely 100 metres from shore, we spotted our first whale frolicking in the shallows! We were captivated as we spent the morning surrounded by the playfulness and songs of numerous whale pods.

In the evenings, K’gari put on the most spectacular sunsets. Sipping a cocktail at the Sunset Bar provided the perfect backdrop for quiet reflection and conversation with fellow sisters.

On our final evening back in Noosa, we soaked up the local beachside vibe with drinks at the Noosa Surf Club before enjoying a fabulous farewell dinner at our resort.

This joyful group of Sisters certainly lived up to the name of this tour; they were indeed the 'Sunshine Sisters', and hosting this tour was an absolute pleasure!
