Weather
June is almost the perfect time to travel to Koh Samui. Average temperatures for the month range between 25 to 32 degrees Celsius. Although a short, sharp tropical shower isn’t unusual, rainfall totals are not high compared to other times of the year.
Visas
From 1 May 2025, you must complete a Thailand Digital Arrival Card (TDAC) within three days before arriving in Thailand. The TDAC must be submitted online through the Thailand Immigration Bureau website.
Health
Please consult your doctor about what vaccinations are required for travel to the region. If you plan to bring medication, check if it's legal in Thailand. Take enough legal medicine for your trip. Consider bringing an extra supply in case your trip is unexpectedly extended.
Carry a copy of your prescription or a letter from your doctor stating:
- what the medication is
- your required dosage
- that it's for personal use
What to pack
Throughout the year Thailand is mostly humid and comparatively warm like any other island. It is suggested you bring loose, modest and comfortable clothing, swimming costume, sunglasses, hat, sports shoes, casual and comfortable sandals/shoes, exercise wear, sleepwear, sun and mosquito protection.
Money
The currency of Thailand is the Thai Baht (THB).
You can convert Australian dollars for THB in tourist areas, major cities and towns.
There are money exchange facilities at the airport from where you will be able to obtain local currency upon your arrival.
ATMs can be found in many places.
It is possible to exchange all the above major currencies very easily at hotels/ banks and money changers.
Drinks
Please avoid drinking tap water. Bottled water and soft drinks are widely available.
Haggling
Haggling is very common in Thailand. In many of the shops there is no fixed price so the shopkeeper will start with the high price which you are then expected to haggle down until you reach your limit.
Haggling should always be relaxed and respectful and can be a lot of fun as most of the shop owners are very friendly.
Safety
Most people find that Thailand is a very friendly and hospitable country and crime against tourists is extremely low. Having said that, you should of course be careful at all times and take standard precautions such as not leaving money or expensive belongings in your hotel room, unless locked in the safe.
Wi-Fi
Free WIFI is found in most places in Thailand, although might be poorly secured.
What plug do I need?
Thailand primarily uses type A (two flat parallel pins) and type C (two round pins)
Travel Insurance
It is mandatory for travellers to have comprehensive travel insurance; please ensure you have provided Sisterhood Womens Travel with a copy of your policy including 24/7 Emergency Contact Number. The standard of medical facilities and care in Singapore is similar to or higher than in Australia. The cost is much higher, and payment may be required upfront. Ensure your travel insurance covers medical costs.
WhatsApp Group
Please make sure you download WhatsApp onto your phone prior to departure. This App will be your communication tool whilst on tour and your tour hostess will contact you prior to departure to set you up in your tour WhatsApp group. It’s also a lovely way to remain in touch with friends upon your return.
Changes to Itinerary
We do our best to give Sisters an enjoyable, trouble-free tour experience but, occasionally, even the best-laid plans can go array. We cannot rule out any changes to the itinerary and ask that you maintain a positive, upbeat and flexible attitude.
