Entry into Greece
Please ensure that your passport has at least 6 months validity from your return date left on your passport. No extra visas are required for entry into Greece for Australian passport holders.
The new European Entry/Exit System (EES) for all non-EU nationals, including Australians, travelling in or out of Europe, is expected to start in October 2025.

Weather
Greece usually sees quite warm weather in August with temperatures in the high 20s – low 30s. The coastal regions, such as Athens and the Greek Islands, tend to be slightly cooler due to the sea breeze, whereas the inland areas can sometimes feel hotter.
What to Pack
With the anticipated warm weather in summer, it’s important to pack clothes that’ll keep you feeling cool and comfortable. Travel for comfort rather than for style. Comfortable walking shoes are a must – there are many cobbled streets in Greece. Don't forget your sunscreen and hat.
Currency
The official currency in Greece is the Euro (EUR). ATMs are available and credit cards are widely used. Contactless payment is widely accepted.
Tipping
Local tipping is customary and appreciated. Sisterhood Womens Travel tipping system on all Group Tours involves passengers contributing to a kitty, which is paid to the tour hostess at the beginning of the tour, who then distributes it daily to service providers on your behalf. This avoids the need for you to consider individual tipping situations daily throughout your trip. The estimated amount for your tour is EUR50, which will be confirmed in your final documentation.
Climate crisis resilience tax in Greece
The “climate crisis resilience tax”, as per Article 30 of Law 5073/2023 has replaced the accommodation tax and will be applicable at all hotels in Greece. The new tax will be calculated per room, per night, and it will be payable by the guests on the spot.
The amount will be EUR 15 per room per night 5-star hotel and EUR 10 per room per night 4-star hotel.
Baggage and Safety
Please keep your luggage to a minimum. Do not take what you cannot handle yourself.
International air carriers are becoming stricter about the size and weight of baggage and carry-on luggage.
Please do not keep money, important documents, medicines and jewellery in your suitcase. You should carry such items with you, but not in the same place in the unlikely event of pickpocketing. We recommend that you leave valuables at home and that you wear a ‘money belt’ while touring. On departure from hotels, check that you have all your personal belongings with you and that you have collected any items deposited in a safe deposit box.
At all times, please be as vigilant as you would be in any major city, especially in crowded places such as public transport hubs, squares or tourist attractions. Never leave your hand luggage unattended or out of sight in public areas, including airports, railway stations, hotel lobbies and dining rooms.
Keep a separate list of important numbers (passport, credit cards) in your luggage, together with photocopies of airline tickets and your passports.
Health While Travelling
There is always a risk to your health when travelling and it is better to be prepared. It is recommended to take with you some diarrhoea medication in case you come down with a stomach bug. It is also a good idea to bring along some hydrolyte for dehydration purposes. We also recommend Travelan to help protect your stomach from any nasties (available over the counter at any pharmacy). For any other vaccination/health/medical concerns with regards to travelling, please consult your GP or visit a Travel Doctor.
Travel Insurance
It is mandatory for travellers to have comprehensive travel insurance; please ensure you have provided Sisterhood Womens Travel with a copy of your policy, including a 24/7 Emergency Contact Number.
WhatsApp Group
Please make sure you download WhatsApp onto your phone prior to departure. This App will be your communication tool whilst on tour and your tour hostess will contact you prior to departure to set you up in your tour WhatsApp group. It’s also a lovely way to remain in touch with friends upon your return.
Changes to Itinerary
We do our best to give Sisters an enjoyable, trouble-free tour experience but, occasionally, even the best-laid plans can go awry. We cannot rule out any changes to the itinerary and ask that you maintain a positive, upbeat and flexible attitude.
