Festive European Christmas Markets - November 2025 - Hostess Roundup - Sally Gilbert

What an incredible experience the European Christmas markets turned out to be. It truly exceeded all our expectations. From the twinkling lights to the festive atmosphere and the friendliness of the people we met along the way, everything felt magical.

Our journey began in Prague, and to our delight, the very first Christmas market was just around the corner from our hotel. Walking into it was like stepping into a winter wonderland the sparkling lights, beautifully decorated trees, and charming market stalls set the perfect festive scene.  We had many small stops along the way that also to our surprise offered their own version of Christmas Markets.  From the Silent Night Memorial Church to Steyr the 1000 year old city where you can visit the Christkindl Post Office and send a very special card to your loved ones back home.  

Next, we travelled to the charming village of Český Krumlov, a smaller, storybook-like version of Prague. The village itself was enchanting, and the warmth of the locals made it even more memorable.

From there, we headed to Salzburg, and what a delight that city was! Each Christmas market we visited offered something completely different, giving us a new experience at every turn.

Our journey continued to Vienna, which was a breathtaking contrast to the previous markets. The scale of the city and the sheer brilliance of the lights made it feel grand and unforgettable.  We visited the Schonbrunn Palace and what a treat learning all about  the European history.

Finally, we arrived in Munich, where the markets again offered a unique charm of their own. Each city had its own personality, its own magic, and each experience felt special in a way we hadn’t anticipated.

Looking back, the entire trip was a magical journey through Europe’s festive spirit. It surpassed everything we imagined, and we would wholeheartedly do it all over again.
