What an adventure we had at and around Uluru! From start to end, the 12 ladies on the Aussie Outback Wonder tour enjoyed warm weather and warm hospitality in the spiritual heart of Australia’s Red Centre.
Our adventure began and ended with smooth flights to and from Ayers Rock Airport. We were welcomed onboard and spoilt with drinks, food and games by Kay Williams, the Qantas Customer Service Manager on the flight to Uluru. The Outback Hotel at the Ayers Rock Resort quickly became our home for 5 nights, the perfect mix of comfort and authentic outback atmosphere. Warm weather meant dips in the pool were in order and evenings featured the hotel’s live music.
Next morning, our early start rewarded us with an introduction to Uluru in all its sunrise splendour. Our SEIT tour guide Alessia enthralled us with cultural stories and insights about the Aboriginal way of life. One highlight was walking to the serene sacred Mutitjulu Waterhole.
Sunrise and sunset became our favourite time of day to photograph the vibrant colour changes of the landscape’s wonders.
Our day at the impressive rust-coloured Kata Juta domes had us exploring Walpa Gorge. Another unforgettable day was spent at Kings Canyon, where we took in the dramatic sandstone walls, ancient chasms, and sweeping outback views. We were accompanied by tour guides and chose to either hike the challenging Kings Canyon rim walk, or walk the more leisurely creek-bed walk. Many ladies also took to the air to see the canyon from scenic helicopter flights.
After early mornings filled with discovery and walking, we would return to the Outback Hotel for swims, games, sleep, relaxation, optional activities and live music. In particular, many ladies enjoyed the Gallery of Central Australia (GOCA) guided tour, the Bush Foods experience, and the Cultural Centre visit. We also dined in style at the very special Arnguli Restaurant and had many laughs during our Farewell Dinner at the Outback Hotel.
This journey was more than just a sightseeing tour, it was a beautiful opportunity for the 12 of us to bond, laugh, and create lifelong memories against one of the world's most spectacular backdrops. This Red Centre escape will be cherished by us all for years to come.
