Pentridge Precinct, Coburg
We'll meet at the corner of Lonsdale Street & Spencer Street at 11.30am and take our bus to Pentridge Prison in Coburg.
We'll enjoy a delicious 2-course chef’s selection lunch at the recently hatted restaurant, North&COMMON restaurant, before embarking on a fascinating tour of H Division, where we’ll uncover and explore some of the more notorious chapters in Australian penal history.
Pentridge Prison, officially known as His Majesty's Gaol, Pentridge, was a notorious prison in Coburg, Victoria, Australia. Established in 1850 as a temporary stockade, it evolved into a large, imposing prison complex, housing many of Victoria's most infamous criminals, including Ned Kelly and Ronald Ryan. It was the central prison in Victoria for much of its history and was known for its harsh conditions and high-security units like H Division. The prison closed in 1997 and has since been partially redeveloped into a mixed-use precinct, with some areas preserved for their historical significance.
Our H Division tour goes for 90 minutes, when finished, time for a coffee before we return back to our drop off point approximately 5pm.
