Over 100 years ago, Winston Churchill visited Uganda and described it as a "fairytale" and the "Pearl of Africa" for its beauty, abundant wildlife and diversity. Obviously this was before roads existed!

I cannot lie - the roads are shocking - but reflecting on our time spent there, it was still incredible. Most of us were taken aback by the landscape - mountain ranges, tea plantations, lakes, rivers, plains etc.And green!  The highlight of course was our priviledged visit to see the gorillas in the Bwindi Impenetrable National Park - we were thrilled to locate 2 families of gorillas within a few kilometres of our starting point.

The Batwa Pygmys were joyous in their welcome and showing us their traditional life. We continued on our safaris and saw more animals in their natural habitat. We got bogged which proved to be memorable moment as 12 women, a guide, a ranger & the driver all piled into one vehicle!

Despite it being the 'wet' season, we were blessed as most days we avoided the rain. Except that one morning when the porter turned up at our door with gumboots to borrow to get to breakfast!

Uganda has some pretty big & famous waterways (Lake Victoria & the Nile to name a couple) upon which we enjoyed a cruise. And our trip concluded with a memorable stay at Wild Waters, where we crossed to an island in the middle of the Nile. Spectacular!

Once again, I thank the girls with whom I shared this adventure. Sisters who proved to be resilient and patient and fun! I am blessed to meet so many fabulous women!
