What are sisters supposed to do when in France?  Unashamedly immerse themselves!

Paris, you need no introduction!  We revel in your history, we sample your food, we ride on your metro, visit your galleries and simply be!

We marvel at the artistic flamboyance which constantly surrounds us in this city of love.  Giverny and Versailles round off the bucket list and do not disappoint.

A day trip to the beautiful Loire Valley sees us amble through Chenonceau Castle, lunch in the sleepy town of Amboise before standing in awe at Chambord Castle.

Venturing via the high-speed TGV train to Provence we arrive at Chateau de Massillan, our place to call home for the next two nights.   We pinch ourselves before indulging in beautiful food and wine.  A picnic with pétanque caps off a wonderful stay.

Aix en Provence is a crowd favourite highlighted by a cooking class with Giles on his farm on the outskirts of town.  A lazy lunch follows, and we all fancy ourselves as Michelin Star chefs.

The French Riviera calls and we find ourselves on the ‘Med’.  We rub shoulders with the rich and famous and imagine ourselves sunning on one of their many billion-dollar yachts.  We settle for some perfume from Fragonard, a cocktail or two and a dip in the Med.

A pretty good alternative we think!

Back on the road we climb north through the charm of Lyon, Beaune, Troyes and Rheims. Honourable mention to Lyon for its Fishbone Alleyways- a secret labyrinth used by the Resistance to move around the city during the war.   To Beaune for its Hospices founded in the 15th century by the Chancelor of Burgundy as a hospital for the poor.

Finally, what a way to finish?  We delve deep in to the caves of the legendary GH Mumm.  I awe of how champagne, god’s nectar is produced, we taste!  Onwards to our last night’s accommodation – a beautiful Chateau outside Chantilly.  A fitting finish to a fabulous trip.  We leave a little piece of our hearts in this simply wondrous country – this journey has enriched us all.
