Itinerary

Day 1 - Wednesday 8 July 2021

Melbourne - Longreach (D)

Welcome to Sisterhood Womens Travel.  Meet your tour hostess and fellow travellers at the designated meeting point at Melbourne Airport.   We check in for our flight and depart to Longreach via Brisbane. On arrival into Longreach we greet our local coach captain and transfer to our accommodation for check in. Tonight we enjoy dinner at Harry’s Restaurant.

Day 2- Thursday 9 July 2021

Longreach (B,D)

This morning we are in for a real outback treat enjoying a guided historical town tour of Longreach, then travel 15kms to Nogo Station to experience a working cattle and sheep property owned by the Kinnon family. We are treated to great country hospitality and smoko whilst hearing the life stories of growing up on the land. Our next stop is the Qantas Founders Outback Museum where we take a step back in time on the 747 and 707 secrets tour. Discover national treasures such as the original hangar and the amazing artefacts, hear how this internationally recognised company became a leader in the field of world aviation and its contribution to the people living in isolated communities
of the outback. We return to our accommodation to relax and freshen up before heading out to the Thomson River to join the multi award winning Starlight’s Cruise Experience on the west’s only paddle wheeler, the “Thomson Belle”.  Listen to informative commentary and take in the stunning outback scenery before enjoying a Stockman’s Campfire Dinner and the Starlight’s Spectacular Sound & Light Show. After a wonderful day with Outback Pioneers we travel back to our accommodation for a good nights rest.

Day 3 - Friday 10 July 2021

We transfer to breakfast before starting an exciting day with Outback Pioneers. Board the stagecoach for The Cobb & Co Stagecoach Experience. How thrilling to gallop through the Australian bush in a replica Cobb & Co Coach drawn by a team of magnificent horses. See first-hand the preparation of the horse team and take in the native bush and wildlife as we experience our ride. Next we are treated to an outback smoko, an ‘old time movie and some live theatre, with the Harry Redford Old Time Tent Show. During the show we enjoy a billy-can lunch. This afternoon we make our way back to our accommodation for a chance to freshen up before meeting the Walker family at Camden Park Station. We are guided through the cattle yards before arriving at their Artesian Spring and Bore for sunset nibbles & drinks. Return to the historic homestead for a hearty dinner under the outback stars followed by a tour of the family’s historical homestead.

Day 4 - Saturday 11 July 2021

It’s an early start this morning for our Winton Discovery Day Tour. Visit the award-winning Australian Age of Dinosaurs museum including the exciting new Dinosaur Canyon and the Collection Room. We enjoy lunch at the historic North Gregory Hotel, where Australia’s unofficial national anthem, Waltzing Matilda was performed in public for the very first time on the 6 April 1895. After lunch we visit the brand new Waltzing Matilda Centre, rebuilt better than ever after a fire in 2015. Later we have the opportunity to explore the town a little further, taking a short walk to Arno’s Wall. A modern wonder of art and architecture, Arno Grotjahn’s wall contains almost every household item you can imagine and more. Tonight we transfer to the beautifully renovated "The Welcome Home" venue for a Stonegrill Dining Experience.

Day 5 - Sunday 12 July 2021

This morning after breakfast we visit the Australian Stockman’s Hall of Fame and Outback Heritage Centre. Inside, the centre’s five themed galleries proudly display the history behind some of Australia’s greatest and bravest explorers, stock workers, pastoralists, and Indigenous Australians. The exhibits are comprised of an eclectic mix of objects, images, touch screens, audio visual presentations and open displays, allowing visitors to interpret the outback story in their own unique way. There is free time to enjoy lunch at own cost. Tonight we enjoy some fantastic outback hospitality at the Cattleman’s Bar and Grill with a country style dinner while watching the Outback Stockman’s Show. The Show tells the story of real life stockmen and women who work on the land and features Lachie, a third generation stockman and horse breaker with his very entertaining sidekicks.

Day 6 - Monday 13 July 2021

Longreach - Brisbane (Spirit of the Outback) (B,L,D)

This morning after check out we enjoy breakfast before transferring to the Longreach Train Station for our overnight on the iconic Spirit of the Outback Rail. The Spirit of the Outback heads east towards Brisbane. With blue summer skies and rich golden soil to be seen into the horizon, this expedition is the perfect ending to our Big Week Outback.  We enjoy a hearty outback inspired lunch & dinner in the Tuckerbox Restaurant, then we have exclusive access to the Shearers Rest Lounge to relax and mingle with fellow travellers and watch the scenery pass by.

Day 7 - Tuesday 14 July 2021

Brisbane - Home

After our late morning arrival into Roma Street Rail Terminal, we'll transfer to the Brisbane airport for our flight home.  Thank you for joining us for your latest adventure and we look forward to welcoming you back!
