Itinerary

Day 1 - Wednesday 14 July 2021

Melbourne - Brisbane (L,D)

Today we have an early flight from Melbourne to Brisbane, where we meet our Coach and transfer to the Holt Street Wharf for our ferry ride across to Moreton Island. Upon arrival at the Tangalooma jetty, we are met on arrival and we can then walk to the resort for Lunch before checking into our Rooms. This afternoon we enjoy a combined Sightseeing and Fish Feeding Boat Tour, as well as the Sunset Cruise. This tour is fantastic and a great way to see the beautiful Tangalooma shipwrecks. See what’s under the water without getting in and feed the fish from the comfort of the boat deck as well as enjoy the Sunset over Moreton Bay and relax with a cold drink, snacks, music and commentary on board whilst soaking up the views across beautiful Moreton Bay in the early evening sun. We return to the resort to freshen up before dinner

Day 2 - Thursday 15 July 2021

Safari Tour & In Water Dolphin Experience (B,L,D)

This morning, we enjoy breakfast before exploring the stunning Southern end of pristine Moreton Island aboard Tangalooma’s Southern Safari Tour. Experience the raw and rugged beauty of our island coastline, including the untouched and expansive Eastern beach. Enjoy a delicious lunch at the Gutter Bar in Kooringal. Southern Moreton highlights include the dense bushland and coloured sands of Middle Road, the surf side of the island Eastern Beach, the historic WW2 Rous Battery site, the crystal clear waters of the Mirapool lagoon, Big & Little Sandhills, Kooringal Township, the Normandy and Fairlight Wrecks. We head back to the resort to unwind. This evening we are in for a treat with our Wild Dolphin Feeding Experience! Hopefully we’ll get the opportunity to hand feed one of the wild bottlenose dolphins that visit the shores each evening at sunset (no guarantees, they are wild animals and will choose on their own if they wish to visit). There is a large family of these playful dolphins that visit the Island regularly, each with their own distinctive and unique personalities. Later, we enjoy dinner in the resort restaurant.

Day 3 - Friday 16 July 2021

Whaling Station - Back of House & Eco Tourism Tour (B,L,D)

After breakfast, we are met at the Eco Centre for our Whaling Station Tour. Learn about the history and operations of the Tangalooma Whaling Station with one of the Eco Rangers. Find out how Tangalooma evolved from the devastating exploitation of whales into a sustainable whale watching tourist industry supporting of their conservation. The tour duration is 60 minutes which includes a PowerPoint Presentation (40 min) and Whaling Station Walk (15 min). After we enjoy a Back of House and Eco Tourism Tour. Take a peek behind the scenes of a fully operational island resort without any services from the mainland. Learn about the operations and workings of Tangalooma, from water and power use to the usually ‘out of bounds’ staff quarters. Learn how the Resort became a sustainable eco-tourism business. (Please wear enclosed shoes). We enjoy lunch before an afternoon at leisure to explore as you wish. 

Tonight we enjoy dinner with a Beachside BBQ. Unwind, kick back with a drink(own expense), and enjoy a delicious meal while overlooking the east sunsets of Moreton Bay.

Day 4 - Saturday 17 July 2021

Tangalooma - Brisbane (B,D)

Our final day on Moreton Island, after breakfast, we check out and bid farewell to our Island Paradise and take our ferry ride back to Brisbane, where we will transfer to our hotel for check in with time to unwind and free time at leisure in Brisbane City. We enjoy dinner in the Hotel Restaurant tonight.

Day 5 - Sunday 18 July 2021

Brisbane - Gold Coast (B,L,D)

Today we head south with our first stop at the Beenleigh Rum Distillery where we enjoy a guided tour & tasting. The Rum Distillery is Australia’s oldest registered distillery established since 1884. We continue our journey to the Gold Coast to enjoy a buffet lunch on-board Sea World cruises where we will experience the Gold Coast’s finest local produce whilst cruising past some of the magnificent canal homes. We then set our sights high with a visit to the 77th & 78th floor of the iconic Q1 Skypoint Observation Deck. Q1 Observation Deck is Australia’s only beachside observation deck, located on Level 77 of Q1. Rising a sheer 230 metres into the sky, SkyPoint boasts the highest enclosed vantage point of the Gold Coast where we can sit back, relax and enjoy the unsurpassed 360 degree views that extend from the surf to the hinterland and beyond, then make our way back to Brisbane to freshen up before taking in the most stunning sights of Brisbane by night on our ‘Seafood Dinner Cruise’ along the Brisbane River.

Day 6 - Monday 19 July 2021

Brisbane - Granite Belt (B,L,D)

This morning we board our coach and travel west via the Warrego Highway towards the Lockyer Valley with our first stop at the Awassi Cheesery located in the Grantham Hills. The Awassi Cheesery hand-make all the cheese on the farm from 100% sheep milk. Enjoy a guided talk of the farm and learn about the sheep and cheese making with a bit of cheese tasting. The Awassi Cheesery is a great welcoming place to visit, demonstrating how people in the countryside are keen to innovate, experiment and develop new products, while also maintaining their traditional values. We then travel onto Warwick for our guided tour and lunch at Abbey of the Roses, a whimsical heritage listed castle. On our tour we view antiques and wander the grounds, discovering the history of this amazing 1891 ex convent, after which we enjoy a 2 course lunch. We then make our way into Stanthorpe, where we check in to our motel for the next 3 nights. We freshen up before we enjoy a Welcome Drink and Brewery Tour followed by a 2 Course Dinner.

Day 7 - Tuesday 20 July 2021

Stanthorpe Touring (B,L,D)

The Granite Belt is situated on the northern edge of the New England Tableland, right on the border between QLD and NSW, at an elevation of around 1000 metres, this region offers so much. After breakfast, we make our way to the Granite Belt Christmas Farm nestled in the heart of the Granite Belt wine region. This family owned and operated Farm is renowned for bringing the ‘Christmas Spirit’ alive all year round, there are a bundle of MUST DO’s on the farm. We will enjoy a Farm tour along with morning tea and take some time to enjoy the magic of Christmas through the doors of the Mistletoe Store and browse the spectacular range of Christmas decorations and gifts. Taste, indulge and enjoy Mrs. Claus’ festive hand crafted sweet treats and gourmet products, this place is magical. We then make our way to the Stanthorpe Cheese Factory, where we get to taste their fine array of products whilst being educated on the finer points of cheese making. After this we visit Suttons Juice Factory & Cidery, where we are able to taste and purchase a range of products hand made on the premises using Sutton’s own fresh produce! We continue on to the QLD College of Wine Tourism at Varias Restaurant to enjoy lunch. On our way back to the motel, we make a detour for some wine tastings at Robert Channon Winery Tasting, best known for its much awarded Verdelho - Robert Channon was the first winery in Queensland to receive 5 stars from James Halliday. Their vineyards and winery have consistently produced gold medal and trophy winning wines every year since 2001. Their wines were served to Queen Elizabeth II when she visited Brisbane. At an altitude of nearly 950 metres, the winery and café have stunning views over the Singing Lake. Later we return to the motel to freshen up before our dinner out this evening at the Blue Pot Pantry at Claudia’s Country Restaurant to at a venue located in a quaint country location overlooking Stanthorpe

Day 8 - Wednesday 21 July 2021

Stanthorpe Touring (B,D)

After a hearty fully cooked breakfast we set off for another day full of adventure, our first stop is Jamworks for Devonshire Tea. Jamworks takes pride in selecting only the freshest and best quality ingredients for their preserves. We can try a wide selection of jams and chutneys at the tasting bar, where the staff are always happy to assist and answer any of your questions. Our next stop is the Symphony Hill Vineyard for wine tasting and take a tour through the state of the art facilities, drink in the aromas of our candle lit barrel room. Enjoy the contemporary tasting room complete with chandelier and 1960s original whistler lounge which has been reupholstered bright red. Symphony Hill embodies the cutting edge, neo-vino wine movement that dares to take Australian wines in fresh and exciting directions. We then travel onto the Stanthorpe Art Gallery, to view the Exhibition and we will also have some free time to purchase lunch in town (own expense). After this we head back to our accommodation for an afternoon at leisure, enjoy the scenery or stoke the fire in your own Cabin and enjoy the ambience. Tonight we celebrate Christmas in July with all the Christmas Trimmings - dress in your best Christmas bling with dinner in the Retreat Restaurant.

Day 9 - Thursday 22 July 2021

Stanthorpe - Brisbane - Melbourne (B)

After breakfast, we bid our hosts farewell and make our journey back towards Brisbane. Along the way we stop for morning tea at the heritage-listed Glengallan Homestead, a sandstone mansion dating back more than 150 years and enjoy a guided talk here. We then make a stop in Warwick where you will have time to purchase lunch here (own expense) before we travel onto Maryvale, and join Sharman Apununga Parsons on a fascinating walking tour showcasing Aboriginal culture and philosophy. After this informative tour we make our final journey into Brisbane, before our early evening flight back to Melbourne and reflect on our time away to Moreton Island and the Granite Belt region with Sisterhood Womens Travel
