Local tipping is customary in India.  Sisterhood Womens Travel tipping system on all Group Tours involves passengers contributing to a kitty which is  paid to the tour hostess at the beginning of the tour who then distributes it daily to service providers on your behalf. This avoids the need for you to consider individual tipping situations daily throughout your trip. Itinerary

Day 1 - Sunday 1 November 2020

Melbourne - Cochin (Meals in flight)

Welcome to Sisterhood Womens Travel.  Meet your fellow travellers and tour hostess at the Melbourne Airport for your flight to India.  Sit back, relax and enjoy the airline inflight entertainment as we head towards Cochin. Arriving just after midnight we'll be transferred to our hotel - The Vivanta By Taj Mlabar Kochi.  Welcome to to Kochi -  Also known as Cochin, a city in southwest India's coastal Kerala state. This attractive city has served as a popular port for over 600 years and is known for its eclectic architecture and its array of religious monuments, museums, galleries, cafes and antique shops. The city stretches across a number of peninsulas and islands, which can be reached by a network of water taxis and bridges.

Day 2 - Monday 2 November 2020

Cochin (B)

This morning after breakfast we will take a guided sightseeing tour of Cochin including visits to the Dutch Palace (Mattancherry Palace). The most significant thing about this palace is the amazing paintings in the bedrooms and other rooms. The paintings portray scenes from the Ramayana, Mahabharata and Puranic legends connected with Shiva, Vishnu, Krishna, Kumara and Durga, The Jewish Synagogue - This synagogue was constructed in 1568 and was brilliantly decorated by Chinese tiles and Belgian chandeliers. The Synagogue has a giant scroll of the Old Testament, Cochin Harbor - Cochin Harbor is the home of Chinese Fishing nets. These fishing nets are one of its kind and are found only in India. The fishing nets were popularized in Cochin Harbor by the traders from the court of the Chinese ruler Kublai Khan, St Francis Church - St. Francis church was constructed by the Europeans in 1503. The Portuguese trader, Vasco da Gama died in Kochi, during his third visit to Kerala. Initially, his body was buried in this church, but after a few years his remains were moved to Portugal. In spite of all this the place where he was buried has been marked out inside the church.

Later in the evening we will be treated to a Kathakali Dance Performance at a local theatre. Kathakali is a classical dance form, portraying Indian epics (Ramayana and Mahabharata). Dancers with painted faces depict the various characters of the ancient epics. The Kathakali dancers portray a lot of facial expressions and articulate body movements.

Day 3 - Tuesday 3 November 2020

Cochin (B, L)

This morning we'll enjoy a Mehndi/Henna Session - - Mehndi is a form of body art originating from the Indian subcontinent, in which decorative designs are created on a person's body, using a paste, created from the powdered dry leaves of the henna plant.

Afternoon Cooking Class - - Southern India is renowned for its fantastic cuisine so what better souvenir to bring home than some tasty recipes and the skills required to make them. They have been conducting cookery classes in their home for over 12 years and are passionate about sharing their love of traditional Keralan cuisine. This group cookery class is a great opportunity to try your hand at cooking the local way and to learn more about the Keralan culture and cuisine as you enjoy lunch with your hosts.

Evening vehicle and driver at disposal for shopping etc. During our sightseeing,  we'll also visit a local Sari shop and learn the basics of Sari tying.

Day 4 - Wednesday 4 November 2020

Cochin - Munnar (B)

This morning after breakfast, we will drive to Munnar. 

Idyllically set at the confluence of three mountain streams, Munnar is a beautiful hill station in the Western Ghats mountain range in India’s Kerala state. The village once served as a popular vacation resort for the British Raj elite who flocked to here to enjoy the pleasant cool climate and the scenic natural surroundings characterised by rolling hills dotted with colonial bungalows, streams, waterfalls and 19th-century tea plantations. The main attraction in the area is the extraordinary Eravikulam National Park, which is famous for its diverse array of wildlife including the endangered mountain goat known as Nilgiri tahr.

Day 5 - Thursday 5 November 2020

Munnar (B)

Today we visit the Tea Museum and Tea Plantations.

Tata Tea has recently set up a Tea Museum in Munnar. The Museum portrays the growth of Munnar tea estates, veritably conveyed through some of the displays like the rudimentary tea roller to the modern fully automated tea factory. Visitors to the museum can satiate their curiosity on various stages of tea processing, and also learn a thing or two about the production of black tea.

The rest of the day is ours to spend at leisure.

Day 6 - Friday 6 November 2020

Munnar - Alleppy (B, L, D)

This morning we drive to Alleppey, upon arrival we will board our private Houseboat for an overnight stay.

One of the high points of our tour, is the night spent onboard the Houseboat. These rice barges or “Kettuvallams” sail alongside the shallow palm-edged lakes and narrow canals. The House Boat takes us through the villages constructed on narrow spits of land, where we can stop at the local markets, or to see the wonder of the craftsmen engaged in centuries-old boat-making tradition. These Houseboats offer one or two small cabins with a tiny sitting area and a crew of 2 staff and a chef. The Houseboats serve authentic Keralan cuisine. The overnight stay on the Houseboat is an extraordinary experience.

Day 7 - Saturday 7 November 2020

Munnar - Kumarakom (B)

After breakfast we disembark our Houseboat and transfer to your backwater resort in Kumarakom.

Kumarakom is a small village on the Vembanad Lake in Kerala. This beautiful paradise stocked with mangrove forests, beryl green paddy fields and coconut groves comprises with water ways and canals adorned with while lilies. Kumarakom charms the tourist from all over the world. It offers a wide variety of flora, beautiful sightseeing, boating and fishing experiences. It is a part of Kuttanad region and the bird sanctuary spread over 14 acres is a safe home for many migratory birds. It is a fascinating sight for the visitors. The best way to watch the birds of the Kumarakom sanctuary is a boat ride round the islands, as hundreds of swaying verdant coconut palms lining the rivers lean to brush the tops of your heads.
Spend the rest of the day either relaxing or enjoying the facilities of the resort.

Day 8 - Sunday 8 November 2020

Spend today at leisure to enjoy activities provided by resort (the resort offers a number of complimentary activities such as Yoga & Meditation sessions, Bird Watching, Cooking demo, Sunset cruise.

Day 9 - Monday 9 November 2020

Kumarakom - Cochin - Male (B, D)

This morning we transfer to Cochin airport for our flight to Male in the Maldives.  We will be met on arrival at Male airport and transfered by speed boat to our accommodation on the North Male Atoll.

Situated in the beautiful Maldives, North Male Atoll makes up the northern part of the larger natural Male Atoll. It is home to the city of Male which serves as the national capital of the Maldives and the transport hub of the islands. The well-developed North Male Atoll is known for its many resorts, hotels and guesthouses. Visitors can look forward to a variety of wonderful activities including: swimming in blue lagoons, diving and snorkelling through abundant coral reefs, lazing on pristine white-sand beaches.

Day 10 - Tuesday 10 November 2020

Maldives (B, L, D)

This morning we wake up in paradise and spend the next two days relaxing and enjoying the many facilities the resort has to offer including all meals, snacks, certain spirits, cocktails, house wine, draft beer, cordials and mocktails.

Providing unrestricted access to the immaculate beaches encircling the island, Adaaran Select Hudhuranfushi offers guests the opportunity to explore Maldives in its entirety. Discover Maldives Things to do with several exciting excursions in the Maldives are offered, Island hopping is among the most preferred forms of unravelling the mysteries that is Maldives. Such excursions can be scheduled upon request.

Snorkeling and scuba diving in the hotel reef and neighbouring dive sites at Hudhuranfushi will open one's eyes to the tiers of multi coloured corals and schools of small and mesmerizing coral fish. Such thrilling underwater excursions in the Maldives also give opportunity to view graceful stingrays that elegantly glide through the water and sleek sharks that prowl the seabed.

Day 11 - Wednesday 11 November 2020

Another day spent in paradise.  Perhaps a visit to the Chavana Spa Enjoy where they offer a myriad of cleansing and rejuvenating treatments.  With spa services ranging from traditional aromatherapy massages to result-driven Elemis face and body treatments, using dynamic with medical grade formulas that offer scientific solutions to every skin, body and lifestyle concern; a perfect way to complete a perfect getaway.
