On average it is recommended to allow an extra EUR40 per day for meals not included in this tour.

Local tipping is expected in Italy.  When visiting destinations where tipping is expected, the Sisterhood Womens Travel tipping system allows travellers to contribute to a kitty which is paid to your tour hostess at the beginning of your tour.  Your Tour hotsess will then distribute to service providers on your behalf alleviating the need for you to worry about how much and who to tip.  The pre-determined amount for this tour is EUR300 (based on EUR15 for 20 days) and will cover your transfers, drivers and guides in each destination.  Please ensure you pass this amount in the required currency to your Tour Hostess prior to your departure. 

This tour is on the go and a good level of fitness will be required.  Our sightseeing will consist of walks on cobblestone paths with inclines/declines and steps.  Please take this into consideration prior to booking.

Melbourne - Venice (Meals Inflight)

Welcome to Sisterhood Womens Travel!  Meet with your Sisterhood Tour at the Melbourne Airport for our flight to Venice.  Sit back, relax and enjoy the inflight entertainment of our airline as we make our way towards Venice, Italy!

Day 2 - Sunday 11 October 2020

Welcome to Venice (B,D)

Welcome to Italy and the beautiful city of Venice!  We will be met upon arrival into Venice and transferred to our accommodation.  Venice, the capital of Veneto, is a small fantastic city, unique in the world and full of charm and mystery. Extremely concentrated, every monument, Church or museum contains a piece of history, a legend or a tradition.  Known for it's bridges, water, lights and gondalas our stay here will be a fabulous experience.

Day 3 - Monday 12 October 2020

Venice Sightseeing (B)

After breakfast this morning we'll enjoy a walking tour of Venice.  We'll take a leisurely stroll through the winding streets and alleyways learning about its colorful past through its most characteristic and iconic attractions. We'll visit the Bridge of Sighs, view Piombi Prison, tour the Doges Palace and St Marks Cathedral and enjoy a Glass Blowing Demonstration.  The remainder of the day is free before regrouping to enjoy a 'must do' 35 minute gondala ride through the famous Grand Canal as the smaller canals around the neighborhood of Venice.  

Dinner at leisure.  There are so many restaurants to discover - feel free to 'get lost' to enjoy.

Day 4 - Tuesday 13 October 2020

Murano and Burano (B)

Today we'll enjoy a visit to the neighbouring islands of Murano and Burano.  We visit Murano for a look at the 12th-century San Donato Church and a traditional Venetian glassblowing workshop.  Onto Burano with its vibrantly coloured fishermen's houses that line the streets. Just as the island Murano is famous for its glassmaking, Burano is famous for its lacemaking.  Almost exclusively made by women, Burano lace is the finished product of a painstakingly precise textile craft.  Return to Venice with an afternoon free.

Day 5 - Wednesday 14 October 2020

Venice - Verona - Milan (B)

This morning after breakfast we depart for Milan with a stop in the romantic city of Verona for a guided tour. Explore the streets of Verona's historical centre taking in the churches and palaces that have helped make this town a UNESCO World Heritage-listed site. Discover Juliet's Balcony from Romeo & Juliet fame and drop into the Guiletta Club where you can pen your own love letter.  We continue onto the Valpolicella wine region, one of the most prestigious Italian winemaking areas in the Veneto region for a wine tasting session before arriving into Milan.

Day 6 - Thursday 15 October 2020

Milan Sightseeing (B)

This morning we'll meet our local guide and enjoy a guided tour of the city. Chic Milan is the regional capital, Italy’s financial centre, a shopper’s paradise and the main gateway to Lombardy, renowned worldwide for its fashion shows. During our guided activities we’ll admire the Duomo, Sforzesco Castle, Vittorio Emanuele Gallery.  The afternoon is free for further sightseeing or shopping.

Day 7 - Friday 16 October 2020

Milan - Mendrisio - Lake Como (B)

After breakfast we'll depart Milan for Lake Como, stopping on the way at Fox Town Factory Stores in Mendrisio (Switzerland) for a couple of hours shopping!  Arrive in Lake Como in the afternoon.

Day 8 - Saturday 17 October 2020

Lake Como Sightseeing (B)

Today we'll enjoy a full day excursion of Lake Como by ferry and on foot. Lake Como sits on the foot of the Alps and offers some of the most beautiful scenery in Italy’s Lake District and has enchanted artists and travellers for centuries!  This upscale resort area is known for its grand villas and dramatic scenery.

Day 9 - Sunday 18 October 2020

Lake Como - Turin - Langhe Area (B)

This morning we make our way to the Langhe area, famous for its wines, cheeses, and truffles—particularly the white truffles of Alb.  We'll stop in Turin along the way for a sightseeing tour of this city known for its refined architecture and baroque buildings.

Day 10 - Monday 19 October 2020

Langhe Sightseeing with White Truffle Hunt (B)

Today we'll learn all about one of this region's most famous specialties, the truffle. After this short introduction, we'll venture into the woods with the trifolau (truffle hunter) and his dog, to put our newfound knowledge to the test and find our own little nugget of white gold! Next we'll visit a local farm and taste some of their products, which include cheeses and succulent salamis, paired with good local wine.

Day 11 - Tuesday 20 October 2020

Langhe Area - Cinque Terre (B)

This morning after breakfast we'll head to the famous Cinque Terre area and in the afternoon we'll roll up our sleeves for a traditional pesto making class.  Pesto is famous in this area and we'll learn how to make this classic sauce from scratch.

Day 12 - Wednesday 21 October 2020

Cinque Terre (B, L)

Today get ready for a full day excursion to the Cinque Terre. We take the train from La Spezia to Riomaggiore, walk along the panoramic footpath (paved) that leads from the new to the old part of the village where we will have a view of the "Via dell'Amore", the rest of Cinque Terre coast, the harbour and the old Riomaggiore. We'll walk by the ancient church of St. John the Baptist and approach the main street. After some free time, we'll rejoin our guide and take the train to Monterosso, the largest village of the Cinque Terre and the only one with a beach. We explore the old town, walk its shady alleys and visit a tiny "Oratorio" with some mysterious sculptures. Later we'll enjoy a typical lunch at a local restaurant.                                      

In the early afternoon we'll take the train to Vernazza, the pearl of Cinque Terre. Explore the maze of its alleys and enjoy the stunning view of the village from the hiking path leading to Monterosso. After some free time and maybe a gelato, we'll take the train to Manarola. Manarola is one of the smallest villages, it develops uphill as far as the church and from there we can walk through the vineyards or through the upper side of the village. 

Back to our hotel later in the afternoon with dinner at leisure.

Day 13 - Thursday 22 October 2020

Cinque Terre - Tuscany (B,L)

This morning we leave the Cinque Terre area for Tuscany. Our first stop will be Pisa: enjoy a free visit of Piazza dei Miracoli, the Cathedral with its Romanesque art constructed between the 11th and 12th centuries (exterior), the Leaning Tower (exterior), the Baptistery (exterior) and other important monuments.  Then get ready to travel to the elegant and refined town of Lucca. Upon arrival, we have free time to walk along the famous walls dating back to the sixteenth century before entering the enchanting city centre. Take your time, admiring the amazing Piazza Anfiteatro, the Torre Giunigi, the Duomo di San Martino and the typical antique dealer's street.

We'll enjoy a typical lunch at a farmhouse in the region before heading to our accommodation in the Tuscan countryside.

Here we'll enjoy the next 5 nights staying in a traditional Farmhouse whilst enjoying daily sightseeing to neighbouring areas.

Day 14 - Friday 23 October 2020

Day Tour to Florence (B,D)

After breakfast we'll travel to nearby Florence to enjoy a half day walking tour.  We'll follow our guide along the windy pathways stopping in Piazza del Duomo. Be awed as you take in the glory of the Duomo (Cathedral of Santa Maria dei Fiori). We'll also see Giotto's bell tower (Campanile di Giotto), and the bronze baptistery doors by Ghiberti. Next, we'll stroll to the Accademia Gallery to visit their most famous exhibit: Michelangelo’s David, a masterpiece of Renaissance sculpture. Admire the marble statue which was carved in the early 16th centurymand learn how it is a symbol of strength and youthful, human beauty.

Free time to explore Florence before we return to our Farmhouse late afternoon.

Day 15 - Saturday 24 October 2020

Day Tour to Siena, San Gimigniano and Monteriggioni

After breakfast we'll depart for a full day excursion to Siena, San Gimignano and Monteriggioni. Start our day in Siena, where we'll enjoy a guided tour of this magnificent medieval city. Admire the interior of the Cathedral, with the Piccolomini Library. Our private tour will then proceed to Piazza del Campo, one of the most beautiful squares in Europe, and the Town Hall (outside). Afterwards some free time to explore the old town centre and to stop for lunch (not included).

Then we continue onto San Gimignano a beautiful hilltop village famous for it's towers, frescoes and art treasures for free time to explore.  Before heading back to our Farmhouse we'll visit the Monteriggioni fortress that was built around year 1200 in defence of the city of Siena and Via Francigena: the ancient road and religious pilgrim route running from France to Rome in the Middle Ages.

Return to our Farmhouse for dinner.

Day 16 - Sunday 25 October 2020

Chianti (B,D)

This morning after breakfast, we'll enjoy a full day Chianti tour stopping at the small villages of Radda and Castellina.  With time to admire the beautiful scenery with the typical rolling hills and enjoy a wine tour at a local winery ending with a wine tasting, together with some local delicacies.

Return to our Farmhouse for a free evening.

Day 17 - Monday 26 October 2020

Free Day (B,D)

Today we'll enjoy a free morning at our Farmhouse. In the afternoon we learn more about the Tuscan and Italian traditional dishes with a hands on cooking class, followed by dinner enjoying what we have prepared.  This will be a real treat!

Day 18 - Tuesday 27 October 2020

Tuscany - Rome (B)

This morning we farewell our Tuscan Farmhouse and depart for Rome.  After checking into our hotel, in the afternoon we'll enjoy a guided tour of Ancient Rome including a guided tour of the Colosseum, where we make use of our skip-the-line tickets to bypass the long queues. Once inside the world's most famous amphitheatere our guide will explain about the bloody gladiator combats and other spectacles that took place inside. Our tour continues to the picturesque Palatine Hill, where the Emperors built their houses. Our next stop will be the impressive Roman Forum, the meeting point of Ancient Rome where our guide will bring to life these Ancient ruins and recount the fascinating history behind them.

Day 19 - Wednesday 28 October 2020

Rome - Visit to the Vatican (B)

In the morning, we'll be visiting the Vatican, the Vatican Museum and the Sistine Chapel, the official residence of the Pope in the Vatican City. Its fame rests on its architecture, which evokes Solomon's Temple of the Old Testament, its decoration, frescoed throughout by the greatest Renaissance artists, including Michelangelo whose ceiling is legendary.  An afternoon at leisure.  Feel free to visit the Trevi Fountain and toss a coin in for luck, people watch in Piazza Navona, visit the Spanish Steps or visit the Pantheon.

Rome - Sorrento (B)

Today we'll depart for Sorrento on the beautiful Amalfi Coast.  Enroute we'll stop in Pompeii. Pompeii holds an intense fascination for visitors today. Following the eruption of the volcano Mount Vesuvius in the year 79 A.D., Pompeii lay buried and forgotten for hundreds of years. The town is a must-see and the excavations which began in the 18th Century are still being carried out today. With our guide we'll walk through some of the ancient streets of Pompeii where we can see baths, forums and villas built by the prosperous Romans in the year 80 B.C. Marvel at the fabulously preserved frescoes that once adorned the walls and floors of the villas. This is an amazing archaeological site that is sure to admired.

Continuing onto Sorrento with a dinner at leisure.

Day 22 - Saturday 30 October 2020

Sorrento - Amalfi Coast Day Tour (B)

Today we explore the beautiful Amalfi Coast.  Our driver will take us along one of the most spectacular drives throughout Europe - the Amalfi Drive, the famous narrow road that brings you from Sorrento to Amalfi.  We start in the direction of Positano "The romantic city." Then we move to Amalfi, admiring along the way the crib of Praiano, the fjord of Furore, the Emerald Cave and Sofia Loren's villa in Conca Dei Marini. Once in Amalfi, there will be another stop to visit the Duomo (Cathedral of St. Andrew).  With time to explore before returning to Sorrento in the afternoon.

Day 23 - Sunday 1 November 2020

Capri Day Tour (B,D)

Today we'll enjoy a private boat trip to Capri so pack your bathers for when we drop anchor and SWIM in the Mediterranean!. Capri is a Mediterranean island of calcareous origin that has been visited over the centuries by intellectuals, artists and writers, all enthralled by its magical beauty. A mix of history, nature, worldliness, culture and events that blend together and bring the Legend of Capri to life; a legend that sees no comparison anywhere in the world.

The musts while in Capri are to walk through the famous “Piazzetta” or take an optional boat trip to the Blue Grotto.

The Piazzetta is the centre of the island of Capri for tourists and locals alike. All those arriving in Capri have to pass through the narrow passages left between the tables outside the various bars, bars where the locals meet for lunch or simply to chat, guaranteed a little privacy by the umbrellas supposedly used to protect customers from the sun.

We return to Sorrento in the afternoon to enjoy a farewell dinner at a local restaurant.  What a grand Italian adventure we've all enjoyed!
