Itinerary

Day 1 - Friday 7 June 2019

Melbourne - Los Angeles (Meals in flight, D)

Welcome to Sisterhood Womens Travel.  Your tour hostess and fellow travellers will meet you at the designated departure point at Melbourne Airport for your flight to Los Angeles. Sit back, relax and enjoy your flight.

Upon arrival we will be met by our tour guide who will conduct a short city tour including a visit to Griffith Park and Observatory and the Chinese Theatre Forecourt of the Stars, we will walk  down the " Walk of Fame" before a leisurely drive past some of the amazing Beverley Hills Mansions then head back along Sunset Boulevard and finally arrive at our hotel in beautiful Santa Monica. Tonight we will enjoy a 3 course meal at Geoffrey's in Malibu, this legendary restaurant has played host to Marilyn Monroe, JFK and much of Old Hollywood's glitterati, with sweeping ocean views from almost every seat.

Day 2 - Saturday 8 June 2019

Santa Monica (B)

This morning after breakfast we will depart for the famous Rodeo Drive for some window shopping.  Later enjoy a wine tasting at the Cornell Winery (near Malibu); located in the former Old Place Building which was a hang out of Steve McQueen, Ali MacGraw, Jason Robards, Sam Peckinpah, Sam Elliot, Katherine Ross, Bob Dylan and a few other mega stars. There will be time to also visit Santa Monica Pier which offeres plenty of entertainment, including an amusement park, solar-powered Ferris wheel, carousel, arcade, visitor centr and aquarium.

Day 3 - Sunday 9 June 2019

Santa Monica - Las Vegas (B)

Today we will make our way to Las Vegas.  Vegas, baby! The ultimate destination for self-indulgence and instant gratification. No matter how much you hear about Las Vegas, nothing can quite prepare you for the fabulously over-the-top mega-resorts and the dazzling neon lights  . En route we will stop at Calico Ghost Town and the Mojave Desert. Then in the evening we will see VEGAS! The Show, the biggest stage production on the strip in almost 20 years, while visiting Las Vegas. Immerse yourself in the gossip, glitter and glamor that make up Vegas' culture, all sent up on stage in Planet Hollywood's Saxe Theatre. This show recreates the greatest moments in Vegas’ history during its 1.5 run time. You’ll meet vintage Vegas icons like The Rat Pack, Elvis and today’s most popular performers.

Day 4 - Monday 10 June 2019

Las Vegas (B)

After breakfast we will meet our tour guide for a half day city tour including the Neon Museum and Neon Boneyard which houses some of the iconic colourful neon signs and marquees seen at hotels and casinos over the years. The afternoon is at leisure for shopping, relaxing or a perhaps try your luck in the casinos.

Day 5 - Tuesday 11 June 2019

Las Vegas - Grand Canyon (B)

This morning we will cross the border into the state of Arizona home of the Grand Canyon, as we drive along the incredibly scenic South Rim we will be mesmerised by the imposing beauty and splendour of its massive layered-rock canyons, river tributaries, fauna and flora, and historical significance. En route we will make a stop for lunch (own expense) at Mr D'z Route 66 Diner as we make our way to Winslow where we will spend the night

Day 6 - Wednesday 12 June 2019

Arizona - Santa Fe (B)

Today we continue to follow the Route 66 to Santa Fe, the capital city of New Mexico which is renowned for its Pueblo-style architecture and its thriving creative arts scene, where colourful open-air marketplaces, historic buildings, art galleries and museums sit side-by-side with modern restaurants and vibrant nightclubs.  Along the way we will visit  Albuquerque, New Mexico's largest city set on the banks of the mighty Rio Grande River, in the shadow of the pink-hued Sandia Mountains,.  We will visit the historic El Rancho, the site of famous Hollywood Westerns and also the Acoma Indian Pueblo where we will learn about the American Indian culture.

Day 7 - Thursday 13 June 2019

Santa Fe (B,D)

Today we will take a morning city tour of Santa Fe, we will view Plaza and the main sights such as The Palace of the Govenors, Loretto Chapel and the Cathedral of St Francis of Assisi.. Also included is the entry fee to the Georgia O'Keefe Museum  a museum  dedicated to the artistic legacy of Georgia O'Keeffe, who was one of the most significant artists of the 20th century, she was devoted to creating imagery that expressed what she called “the wideness and wonder of the world as I live in it.”. Later tonight we will enjoy a tapas dinner and flamenco show at El Farol, hailed as Santa Fe's most historic and iconic restaurant.

Day 8 - Friday 14 June 2019

Santa Fe - Amarillo (B)

Continuing along Route 66 we cross into Texas to Amarillo where the city's Route 66 Historic District is a delight to explore as it is dotted with a variety of restaurants, cafes, clubs and antique stores, many of which occupy beautiful old art deco and Spanish Revival buildings.  Along the way we will make a stop in Tucumcari where we will visit a famous Route 66 Restaurant called Dels (own expense) and enjoy some shopping time at Tee Pees Curios.

Day 9 - Saturday 15 June 2019

Amarillo - Fort Worth (B)

After breakfast we will head to Fort Worth, known as the ‘City of Cowboys and Culture its a modern city, complete with a variety of both cultural and historic attractions.  Along the way we will take a tour to Southfork Ranch which was chosen in 1978 as the filming location for hit TV drama series, Dallas.  Tonight we saddle up for a great stay in the city 'Where the West Begins' - Fort Worth, a boot-scootin’, honkey-tonk, cowboy kind of place.

Day 10 - Sunday 16 June 2019

Fort Worth (B)

This morning we will enjoy a half day sightseeing tour including entrance to Fort Worth Stockyards National Historic District, the National Cowgirl Museum and Hall of Fame. We will also visit Billy Bobs Honky Tonk and Rodeo.

Day 11 - Monday 17 June 2019

Fort Worth - Natchitoches (B)

Today we cross the border into Louisiana on our way to Natchitoches, best known for the filming of Steel Magnolias.  Along the way we will stop in at Waco where we will visit Joanna Gaines Magnolia Market at the Silos, here we can shop for interesting homewears and gifts in the historic grain barn and or everything garden in the Magnolia seed and supply.

Day 12 - Tuesday 18 June 2019

Natchitoches - New Orleans (B)

This morning we travel on to New Orleans, stopping at Cane River Creole National Historical Park, Steel Magnolias filming sites and Oak Alley Plantation on the River Road in Vacherie. Arriving in the afternoon into New Orleans, a vibrant city resting at the mouth of the mighty Mississippi River, this truly cosmopolitan city offers a veritable smorgasbord of fascinating cultures where we can experience steamy jazz in colonial cafes, or simply admire the stately architecture of the French Quarter.

Day 13 - Wednesday 19 June 2019

New Orleans (B)

Today we will visit Mardi Gras World where we will take a guided tour tour of this 300,000 foot working warehouse, we will watch the floats being built, try on costumes, meet the Mardi Gras artists and learn about the history of the festival.   The afternoon is at leisure followed by an evening Jazz Concert at Preservation Hall.

Day 14 - Thursday 20 June 2019

New Orleans - Memphis (B)

This morning we will enjoy a leisurely breakfast before a private introductory tour of Jackson including a visit to Eudora Welty House and Gardens, home of the 1973 Pulitzer Prize winner for her novel The Optimist's Daughter. This afternoon we will arrive Memphis Tennessee, the birthplace of blues and the site of much activity in the historical development of rock ‘n roll, Memphis’s musical heritage is just as diverse as its architectural delights. Highlights include the famed jazz, blues and rock ‘n’ roll joints lined up on Beale Street, the heavily storied Sun Studio and of course Elvis Presley’s impressive Graceland mansion.

Day 15 - Friday 21 June 2019

Memphis (B, D)

Today we will visit the Peabody Hotel for the daily Duck March, the Peabody Ducks"  live on the hotel rooftop make daily treks to the hall's fountain - a tradition dating back to 1933. We will also have a guided tour of Sun Studios and the Centre for Southern Folklore. Later we will tour Elvis Presley's Graceland Mansion with an audio -guided tour and orientation film. Tonight we will enjoy a 3 course dinner at BB Kings Blues Club.

Day 16 - Saturday 22 June 2019

Memphis - Nashville (B)

This morning we travel to Nashville via Leipers Fork for the antique shops. Tonight we visit the Grand Ole Opry. The Grand Ole Opry is a weekly country-music stage concert in Nashville, Tennessee, which was founded on November 28, 1925, by George D. Hay as a one-hour radio "barn dance" on WSM.  Dedicated to honouring country music and its history, the Opry showcases a mix of famous singers and contemporary chart-toppers performing country, bluegrass, Americana, folk, gospel, and comedic performances and skits.

Day 17 - Sunday 23 June 2019

Nashville (B,D)

After breakfast we will enjoy a half day city tour of Nashville including entrance to Ryman Auditorium and the Country Music Hall of Fame, one of the world's largest museums and research centres dedicated to the preservation and interpretation of American vernacular music. The museum's core exhibition, Sing Me Back Home is a Journey Through Country Music.  Tonight we have our farewell dinner / BBQ buffet at Bronco Buster with live entertainment and line dancing at the wild Horse Saloon.

Day 18 - Monday 24 June 2019

Nashville - Los Angeles - Home (B)

Today we'll begin our journey home, transferring to Nashville Airport for our flight to Los Angeles then Melbourne.  Sit back, relax and enjoy the inflight entertainment of our airlines as we head home.
